Toyota Yaris 2002 VVT1 Airbag Control Module 89170-0D040

This ick up s a last ditch attempt to see if anyone out there is able to help.  This perfectly good little runner will have to be scrapped if I cannot locate this part, as it failed the MOT due to a faulty unit & the fact that the Airbag Light will not go off.  There are fewer than 70,000 miles on the clock, unbelievably, & every attempt has been made to locate the part, including contact made with Toyota Head Office & e-mails sent to the Netherlands, Italy & Lithuania parts dealers who advertised the part on their websites, but when it came to it, the parts had already gone & they just hadn't updated the sites.  A so-called parts dealer in Rochdale also advertising it just didn't up the phone (I must have spent over 4 hours on the phone trying to get through to them, nor did they answer Queries from forms filled in or an e-mail I sent them.  I'm at my wits end & will be really upset to have to scrap the car.  Is there anyone who can perhaps help & advise me on this conundrum?

On another topic, just in case I need to have to get a replacement car (will be 2nd-hand) I looked at another Yaris, ten years younger (2012) & with 1.3 engine rather than the current 1.0.  My current Insurance Company, with whom I have 9 year protected No Claims & currently pay £280.00 for year end Nov. 2023-2024, has quoted £2,182.00 if I was to insure with them for this particular Yaris.  I know that Insurance premiums have gone up, but frankly this seems a ridiculous difference & I would welcome an explanation.  Friends I have spoken to seem to pay an average of £300-£400 for similar vehicles.  I'm not a youngster - way over 60.

Yeah that does seem a bit ridiculous; You'll have to shop around other insurers until you find a reasonable one

As for the part, can it be pulled from a similar car in a breakers yard...?
