Convenient and affordable access to vehicle charging facilities – both at home and in public places – is a prime consideration for people who want to make the switch to electric and plug-in electrified vehicles.
Supporting its commitment to reducing carbon emissions and achieving future carbon neutral mobility, Toyota is introducing Toyota HomeCharge, a new domestic chargepoint that’s designed to work seamlessly with Toyota vehicles and the MyToyota app.
Toyota HomeCharge offers greater functionality, interactivity and integration than when using third party wallbox systems to charge a Toyota vehicle. With charging schedules managed via the MyToyota app, it avoids the risk of conflicting time settings that can lead to a vehicle receiving less charge than expected.
Operation is not limited to Toyota models; the wallbox can be used to charge any electric or plug-in electric vehicle that uses a Type 2 Mode 3 connector.
Toyota HomeCharge is available to order now from Toyota Centres nationwide, with installations from late May. The price, including Toyota HomeCharge and standard installation by British Gas, is £1,095* (inc. VAT). Subject to the scale of works required, British Gas can accommodate non-standard installations at an extra charge.
The launch programme includes a free standard HomeCharge unit and installation offer to retail customers who order an eligible new Toyota battery electric or plug-in hybrid car or van between 3 April and 1 July this year**.
Toyota has renewed its collaboration with British Gas whose qualified engineers will ensure a professional installation service for the chargepoint. Subsequent customer support will be provided by Toyota specialists.
Toyota Charging Network
Toyota is further supporting the wider availability of vehicle charging opportunities through the Toyota Charging Network, providing more facilities for motorists who don’t have convenient access for charging at home, or need to recharge their vehicle on longer journeys. The network gives easy access to a wide range of charge point operators (CPOs), with the convenience of using a single app or RFID card. Currently it covers more than 27,000 public chargepoints across the UK, almost half the national total.
Customers can choose from three subscription levels to suit their requirements –
At entry level, Go provides network access with a one-off £8.59 activation fee and no on-going subscription charge. This is an attractive proposition for customers who only use public chargepoints occasionally but appreciate the convenience of using a single app or card.
Active, with a monthly £4.95* subscription, adds the benefit of a discount of five per cent on Go tariff rates.
The Active + comes with a higher monthly fee but secures a 20 per cent discount on Go tariff rates. This makes it suitable for customers covering higher mileages.
