  1. Here is a brief update. The car was returned on 10th June after the software update and I've been monitoring the resting voltage on most days since then. The value typically drops by 0.1v overnight, which reassures me that the larger drops before the update have been fixed. I do like the car immensely, particularly the impressive performance and economy, so rejection is now off the cards. I was irritated before the fix about our Corolla because our Octavia PHEV gave us 2 1/2 years of software issues and the car should have been rejected early on in its ownership, but we liked the car so much otherwise that we hung on to it. I'll check the resting voltage less often, wait in the car whilst my wife shops leaving it in park, carry the booster pack 'just in case' and go out a bit more. Now there is just the faulty key fob to fix, so the car is being collected tomorrow. Then my wife and I will be happy!

  2. Quick update, might be useful if somebody else has the same issue I had it tested using UV dye and the leak was exactly where @TonyHSD has said. Bottom left corner when you look from front right where the pipe connector is. Had the o'ring replaced 3 weeks ago and no leaks since then.

  3. Agreed. But why do the so-called scientists harp on about global warming being entirely due to human behaviour, and never broach the possibility that nature is playing a major part in the changes? My assumption is that it is because they [the scientists] would not get into the spotlight if they simply stated that nature was the cause.

  5. Update: Problem solved! I lifted up the car because was reluctant to drop the car off at the dealers for the 6th time. I noticed the strut dust cover was loose at the bottom on the driver side, I put I tyrap around the dust cover bottom to secure it to the strut base and the intermittend knocking sound has gone!!! Unbelievable the dealer did not notice this and replaced both stabalizer bushings and front struts.

  7. And that is how it should work now! The fact that it doesn’t is a prime indication of what happens when a bunch of warped idiots get into power. Wonton destruction is as old as history itself - “justifiable”(?) vandalism is shrouded in claims that it is carried out to make the general public believe that it is to raise awareness of the threat to our planet. So these morons will use any guise that they hope will get the public on their side. Recent actions have come from so many directions, it causes me to wonder if foreign organisations (possibly political) are promoting these idiots into causing harm to our country. Radicalisation is big business globally, and nobody is immune from falling into the trap. What worries me is that our government are fearful of the trouble-making minority, are fearful of the courts where money-making lawyers defend the morons, frequently backed by liberally warped judiciary, in spite of the obvious signs that these activists are systematically destroying our inherited culture. It is even threatening our freedom - which these morons cynically use as a banner to protect their “rights” to protest.

  9. Always remove the negative terminal of the 12v auxiliary battery first, when working on the positive terminal. This prevents any accidental "spanner shorts" to the surrounding body/chassis earth.

  11. You can report a potential safety issue to DVSA, and if there are a sufficient number of similar reports, the DVSA will investigate the issue with the manufacturer - see: https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-recalls-and-faults/report-a-serious-safety-defect#:~:text=If you find a serious,is dealing with your report.

  13. Hi all! Yesterday I have done a full maintenance, you can see the 106.500km old spark plug and the new one: and the old cabin filter with 6 small 💩....how can I clean the air duct? from where they went inside? thanks!

  14. Wax won't remove scratches, It'll just fill them with wax! Polish is an abrasive, wax is a coating. If you can feel the scratch with a fingernail,it won't polish out. There's all sorts of grades of cutting compound, some can be quite harsh!

  19. Hi, toothpaste should really only be used for its purpose, to clean teeth. For minor scratches like from daily use and regular car washes best thing to do is simple hand wax or polish. Do a good car wash by yourself. Dry the car with soft microfibre cloth. Treat the paintwork with car wax. If any deeper scratches are presented you can do by hand again with t cut compound like 3M green cap.

  20. Hello, and welcome to the club. Sounds like a lovely car, I am a big fan of MK1s myself, which kind of auto transmission is it? The mmt can have problems, but maybe yours won't, and it might be a torque converter type anyway, others will probably advise. A word on the Tsport seats, I have a Tsport and yes they are good for holding, but as I get older and more bony, they do get a bit uncomfortable for me after an hour or so. If you are young however, this probably won't affect you. Congratulations on your purchase, and hopefully you will have many happy years and miles with it.

  23. Yes, having driven vw group cars for the last 25 years or so, that's what I thought too. If you look in the 'guides' section of this forum, under Corolla, there is a tutorial for setting up the meter screens for MY23 Corollas. I found it very useful and way better than the Toyota manual or user guide.

  25. 'Start climate' is remote start, but you aren't supposed to use it if you aren't nearby. Also, strictly the car has to be off the road such as a driveway and not in a garage as the petrol engine runs. But the law hasn't really been updated to deal with all the cars that have remote start now. You select a temperature and the car starts up and runs for 20 minutes then shuts off. All the time the climate control is running, the car is in ready mode with the petrol engine starting up as needed so the 12V battery will be being charged. It doesn't seem to fully charge the big battery though, I've got into mine after 20 minutes and it's only half charged as I'd left it. The dash and infotainment screen are on, but the car is immobilised. If someone breaks a window then the engine shuts off as well.

  26. a pic would help what year aygo ?? depends on the warrenty you have

  27. If you mean having to fight for warranty, yeah that's not unusual If it just did it by itself and you haven't e.g. stuck a screen protector on it or been rubbing chemicals onto it then definitely argue that your use is not the cause of this and that it should be repaired under warranty. (Although check the warranty covers this; IIRC the factory warranty should but Relax doesn't)

  30. I used to have exactly the same issue with my Peugeot 3008 GT300 hybrid4 PHEV. Random total loss of power for several seconds when accelerating from standstill. Dangerous as hell at junctions and roundabouts. They never got to the bottom of it. Could have been faulty sensors, faulty software, or anything really. Several occasions it happened there were no other vehicles in front or behind.

  31. Can't wait to see the official fix for this issue. Wonder if they will add a harmonic balancer weight to the suspension / hub? Or maybe an updated reinforced alloy wheel design & a TSB / recall to replace the wheels The joys of first year of production 🤣

  32. Thanks for that - I was a bit concerned that it might cause some sort of drain once the sun went down. I did have an AA Smart Breakdown (now discontinued) gadget that was permanently in the OBD of my Corsa and caused a very tiny drain. It sent information which helped them to spot faults remotely so one December day I got an alert in their app to warn me that the battery was very low and that I needed to take action. I don't think the sender was to blame though, as I hadn't used the car for 3 weeks or so.

  33. No need to disconnect. The panel has built in blocking diodes so it won't drain the battery if that's what you mean... I've left mine hooked up for 3 days straight before now with no ill effects.

  37. The Aygo, C1 & 107/108 were made in the Czech Republic in a Joint Venture between Toyota and Stellantis. The plant is now wholly owned by Toyota and makes the Aygo X, and some Yaris. The Corolla hatchback and Touring Sport are built in the UK, and the saloon in Turkey. The Yaris and Yaris Cross are built in France.

  38. Oil light can come on when even full with oil. You had just enough to maintain pressure. The engine oil light is for oil pressure, not for oil level. Oil level should be checked by the driver and how often depending on mileage/ use. If you drive a lot weekly checks and golden, if not at least once every 3-4 weeks. Since your oil level been low, and if the oil hasn’t been changed in the last 6 months best is to replace with new and new filter. 0w20 is better oil than 5w30. Petronas offer good quality oils https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/323898171325?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=3hyRrutZQQ-&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=p34UK1z2T4m&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Keep oil at max all the time is the best practice. Driving with low oil level usually increases internal engine temperature and cooks the oil quicker., burns it and makes it darker with all following consequences. Vvti engines does not consume more oil., wrong information, perhaps purposely been told that .

  39. Ooh good point I forgot about that; That said the 1KR was originally designed to run on 5w30 and to my knowledge they didn't make any significant changes for the 0w20, just mandated it for the lower CO2, so the tolerances won't be a problem with using 5w30 (Unlike the newer engines which were designed with the 0w?? oils in mind from the ground up!) Yeah that's way too much for 5w30, that stuff is probably for sports cars or something - Overkill for an Aygo!* - Opie oils or Crickleymal's source should be much cheaper for the same sort of oil. As I said, the oil warning light is for PRESSURE, not level, so even if the oil level is low, the oil warning light will NOT stay on as long as there is enough oil pressure, which there will be unless there is so little oil the engine is already being damaged. Just top it up to the max mark and check it every couple days and let us known how much the oil level is dropping between checks. *Well, unless you are racing it in the Toyota Sprint Series or something, like some of our past members were!

  40. Coming from a Bose in previous vehicle, to the standard (non-JBL) in my current '24 PHEV, there is little if any difference. I was concerned about the lack of JBL offered on the GR Sport grade PHEV, but I think its a decent sounding system, and not at all disappointing. I remember thinking 'phew' when I tried some different audio sources and found them all to be a good standard. I was expecting something sub-standard, but I doubt an 'average' person would be able to point out audio deficiencies. It certainly helps not to have an old diesel engine noise rumbling along in accompaniment..

  44. An update after about 3 weeks ownership of new Aygo X. The only big issue i've had - is that i've found after a few weeks that the drivers seat is a bit uncomfortable. I'm 6ft 2, rugby build. The issue after a while is that the drivers seat pinches my legs at the sides. Ive purchased a memory foam seat cover which has helped considerably, but it's only day 2 of having that installed, so jury's still out. My wife is fine with the seats as standard. In all other respects i'm enjoying ownership. Love the way the car looks, love the canvas roof, love the CVT trans, and paddle shifts. All my journeys so far have been locally, and within my county of East Sussex, so no motorways yet. But i'm happy to report that the car is pretty refined. Am I finding it slow? Not really, it's a 1 litre non turbo, so you know what you're getting. But it's a characterful unit, that sounds good when revved, and moves down the road pretty well. My wife and I find the room in the front of the Aygo X about the same as in the front of the Yaris Cross. The difference is behind the front seats. The boot is adequate for a very small car, is very easy and light to open up too. The big 18inch wheels look brilliant, but as we know tyres in this size are very limited in choice, and quite expensive. But I knew that. One really brilliant thing about the car is connectivity, the big screen, and the sound quality, after a bit of tinkering. For a music lover like me, it's one the best i've come across. And it's a tiny inexpensive (relatively) car. Google maps looks brilliant on the big screen aswell, and is fairly responsive. That's it for now. A happy 9/10 with our purchase. More feedback to come.

  47. It will give a higher margin, but that energy will still need to be put back. TBH, regular use is the best way to stave off problems - I'm pretty sure my Mutley battery is one of the dodgy ones, but it's still working after over 3 years despite being flagged as a fail 3 HHC's in a row (Of course when they checked it formally it's within acceptable limits ), because I use the car so much (3 years, 45k miles ). Still, got the Noco in the car ready just in case for when it does go!! It will also save you money if it gets used more regularly than the other less fuel efficient car - I've just done 300 miles on £28 of fuel!!
