The first big one. 100.000 miles in my Corolla 2.0, Build 11/2019. Nothing has been broken. Front discs has just been replaced. 1 set of wipers, 1 set of summer/ winter tyres. Upgrade to Android Auto. That's it. Nothing else. All services has been done by the same dealer. It has been trouble free and cheap driving.3 points

Ms Sarah Finch challenged Surrey County Council, on behalf of Weald Action Group, and added more uncertainty to the UK’s independence on energy. The Supreme Court judges ruled on a three-to-two majority in favour of the action. So Finch, her lawyers and the judges (a handful of trouble makers) have created a situation that may adversely affect some 60 million UK subjects and, in the long term, increase the risks of regular power outages. ”I am absolutely over the moon to have won this important case”, says Finch. Well, bully for her! With this “important case” being unlikely to have any measurable effect on global warming, the results on our own ability to generate our energy independent of other countries WILL have a measurable effect. Finch obviously hasn’t considered (or doesn’t care) about the hundreds of patients who rely on electrically-powered, home-based life support equipment, where a power outage can have life-threatening occurrences. Also, the products from oil are not limited to energy production - they involve substances for the treatment of medical conditions, some of which are critical in supporting life, and shortages in these areas could mean people may die unnecessarily. Our government must curb these activists and their fee-grabbing lawyers, and make the UK operate for the benefit of the many - not the narrow-minded few.2 points

Well y'see ... I did go to look at that ol' Corolla on E-Bay ... Found it while researching what people put in their ads. It is now sitting in my front drive and is the unicorn it claimed to be. The corrosion was/is minimal and the nearside rear issue that caused the MOT failure has been sorted. The engine looks like it's just come off a forecourt and she drives like a dream. My 'baby's' little sister! I asked about the history and it seems this one has been a second car that went to the shops ... She's about to have a baptism of fire as we're off to the Outer Hebrides this weekend ... Watch this space! Thank you all again for your help and advice. It was really useful 😀2 points

On my 2023 corolla. Go into settings display then switch the display off then swipe five times from left to right lifting your finger off the screen after each swipe, then the same in reverse five times from right to left. On my car I didn't see any setting for the indicator sound.2 points

Thank you for letting me join. I’ve just this afternoon ordered a new Yaris design (with safety pack). Looking forward to its arrival (4 wks)1 point

Are both phones linked to the car? Are both phones in the car at the same time when this happens?1 point

A benefit immediately would be to turn off the audible beeps. The full handbook, explains how to disable beeps for speeding, i'm hoping this will be permanent. Need to check tomorrow on different roads to my local lanes to see whether it's now beepless. What i'm hoping is that I get only visual warnings, not audible ones. Btw - I observe speed limits always, but object to bongs and beeps distracting me when I accelerate gently from a 30 to a 40 zone.1 point

Hi If you open the Official Toyota web site and register you will be able to follow the progress of your new car I have been following the progress of my new car since I ordered it on 6 June It should now be at the Toyota base ibn Derbyshire where the tracker says the PDI Hopefully it should be at my dealer sometime next week I did ask the dealer if there was a tracker and was told no I discovered the above myself John1 point

I dunno, Mk1 or early Mk2 should be doable for that, although I haven't look lately so I guess prices could have risen a lot! The diesels are pretty reliable, much more powerful than the petrols, and insanely efficient, but none of them are ULEZ/CAZ compliant1 point

I'd been wondering how you were getting on so I'm pleased to hear you found a good one and the the corrosion was minor. Brilliant... enjoy 🙂1 point

Glad it all worked out 😃. I don't recall ever seeing an E110 Corolla with a full leather interior. Really pleased this one went to a good home.1 point

It could still be an out of shape tyre caused by a broken cord/belt in the tyre. Not necessarily a buckled alloy. Less likely if its a 16" alloy. Didnt you try the wheel roll test monitoring the gap between the road surface and the tyre as you turned it? If the tyres are near end of life, may as well replace the pair and see if that fixes it.1 point

I've got a 2021 R4P. Dynamic Premium. Gets swapped for a new GR Sport R4P pan roof bitone in September as it's a company car. Nothing else really comes close to my requirements. I looked very hard. Pan roof has been a must for me. 1. Driving in the spring and summer through the forests in the Lakes. Brings the outside in. 2. The cabin is dark and drab. Getting the light in from the outside lifts it significantly.1 point

Thanks , I'll just let it be as it is , like I say it is no big deal but just something that bugged me , never know one day it'll just start to work correctly, thanks again , Dave 👍🏻1 point

Tried it in my car today and it's hit and miss whether the correct track number is displayed. Even album artwork was missing once or twice too. I just think the Spotify app doesn't play nicely over Bluetooth.1 point

Hi, If the rav4 plug in goes without using petrol for 3 months will it go off! Or cause damage just being stagnant? Matt1 point

I was told that at least half the elements must work and if any don't, it's an advisory. If more than half don't work, it's a fail. If it's not there, then fair enough, although this was some time ago.1 point

They don’t brake for no reason, it’s impossible. It’s seen something it considers a risk but you don’t and it doesn’t assist in braking. The feel of the brakes is different than other cars because it’s using braking to regenerate the battery. It’s just a feel of the car that you’ll get used to and you might need to adjust your driving style. I once had a similar conversation with a taxi driver but after riding with him for a period of time, I was not at all surprised the car was nervous. If you really can’t live with it you might have to lose a lot of money by trading it.1 point

Using the car volume controls it should change the volume of the navigation voice if you change it whilst it is giving you directions. I would try doing this without using an android music app playing and see if that is the issue. Mine works fine like this but I dont use an android music app I just use the car one.1 point

I thought I'd have a go at using the AA charger on my wife's 2020 Nissan Micra just to practise using the OBD option before topping up my Yaris. Fell at the first hurdle - where is the OBD port on the Micra?? I can't see it in all the usual places and the handbook doesn't mention one.1 point

Yup, £100 at a main dealer. I managed a much cheaper repair. Can't find the thread now, but it meant basically destroying the original (it's no use) and inserting some cheap LEDs from that well known internet auction site. MOT tester couldn't tell the difference, as they're only slightly dimmer.1 point

You found me out LOL - to be fair the unphotographed bits were when I was gripping the steering wheel for sheer grim survival 😜. I jest of course, it deteriorated rapidly.........honest !!!!! It's grim on the edge of the South Downs, aye lad it is (shhhh it is quite gentle really but very pretty).....😇1 point

There are very few cars that are compatible with smart tariffs - HOWEVER, you can get a charger (we have Ohme home pro) which is compatible, and does all the talking with the tariff itself, it’s just adds whatever percentage to the battery we tell it (on our Seat Mii electric). You either need a car, or a charger. You don’t need both.1 point

I would think that it's software enabled as all cars in the last few years have had to have the system in place (my 2018 MX5 has it). It was only recently compulsory for a car to have it turned on which leads me to believe it's a switch somewhere in the software. My reasoning is that no manufacturer will make a pre-June model without it and a post-June model with it enabled. Now, they may make it hard to find to stop people disabling the EU leading nanny-state / UK following bureaucratic regulators, but fingers crossed that someone does......... p.s. On a European Mazda forum so.eone took out their Sat Nav map card and the car no longer bought up the speed limit sign, stopping the beeping. Realise this may not be an option on the Yaris (mine didn't come with Sat Nav so can't comment ref Toyota.1 point

Which spyware should I disable? I've bought the AA solar charger and it's charging now just to give it a go really as it's been starting fine so far. I'm using the power outlet (ciggy lighter as it used to be called) but I've heard that the diagnostic port will charge faster so I'll have a look for that tomorrow - under the steering wheel I believe.1 point

Good luck with it. I don't wish to be patronising, but given you are 20 , and it's your first car,is there no one who could go with you to have a look? An older experienced relative or friend maybe. Otherwise bear in mind that whatever any dealer says may be true or untrue,re the service history or indeed anything else they say. If you have to look on your own, I suggest having a good read through online check lists for looking at used cars today, so that you are familiar with the main things. I would look under the oil filler cap for mayonnaise (oil and water mix) bad sign as head gasket going or gone. And a good look under the bonnet anyway to see if anything looks amiss, loose wires, battery, general untidiness, and feel if the car engine is warm, been started ready for you looking at it, I bet you are going at a specific time set by the dealer,if me I would go 45 mins or an hour early to see if they are pratting around with jump leads to get it Going. Expensive consumables, like tyres, exhaust , but most of all rust, rust and rust, which cannot be fixed if it's bad, I don't mean on the body work, I mean underneath where suspension is attached particularly, and behind the cills.1 point

Idiotic comment about 5-10 miles per day. My kids have daily return commutes of 50 miles and 70 miles and their EVs (not Toyota) are ideal for this. My daughter got her <1year old e Niro specifically because it saves her money overall in her commute. I like my BZ, no problems with charging, perfectly good to drive.1 point

Very strange title, so I will be the first to mention the panoramic roof🤔 I've never opened mine since the day I got the car. If I had the option I would have done without but it came as a package with other options that I did want1 point

That's a road Dave ... the wheelie bin is a dead giveaway, just waiting for local authority collection ... 😉 The lane up to our place was resurfaced the other year - prior to that the surface was worse than your track, and far steeper! 🙂1 point

My recent ''off road'' (farm track really I suppose) adventures, here in West Sussex. Yes I did try ''TRAIL'' mode just for the sake of it, probably not really needed ! As expected the RAV performed faultlessly. The area was on the edge of the South Downs and the surfaces deteriorate in parts quite badly. It was really more for my own reassurance and a bit of fun on (very) light trails.1 point

Tony will probably be back and advise, but in the meantime I'd say black or dark brown , not to be confused with sooty and black (dry).1 point

Took delivery of our new Exclusive yesterday and I can confirm the car with standard stereo doesn’t have a spare tyre. Standard sound system seems rather good and I believe you also lose boot space with the JBL woofer.1 point

We had a first generation 2.0 Excel which was a nice car , currently have the 2.0 Premiere Edition. I’ve posted quite a bit about the car and MPG in other posts in the forum. It’s undeniable the new model is more expensive than the first generation, but it’s a way better car in every area and 10 years of development are very noticeable. The only downside is there are a lot of features to get used to and it took me several days sitting on the drive working through the dash displays. Apple Car play works very well and easy to set up. In short we’re very happy and with a great looking car that’s a pleasure to drive. Andy 😎1 point

The car should be a nice environment for hayfever sufferers. 1. It has a pollen filter 2. The A/C keeps the air cooler Of course opening the windows negates both of these.1 point
