I need to remove the gear stick housing. To do this I need to remove the stick knob. Does somebody out there knows if I have to pay some extra attention to any part inside the knob when I loosen the knob? Se attached picture.

Celica St205 Code 54 Issue - Not the Temp Sensor...https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/210894-celica-st205-code-54-issue-not-the-temp-sensor/ Hi all

I've got the all too common Code 54 on my ST205 1994 jap import model which is putting the car in limp mode and currently driving me mad because it can't drive me anywhere else...

So far I have:

1. Unplugged the coolant level sensor switch and checked the wires on the body side, getting 12v across the wires. Is this normal, I just expected that the switch bridged a signal, not voltage?

2. Bridged the two sensor wires on the body side and therefore removed the sensor from the equation

3. Disconnected the charge pump and put 12v across the black and red wires, the pump ran instantly and made no bad noises (reconnected pump)

4. Checked continuity of the 30 amp CDS fuse which appears fine

5. Checked voltage across the switch on the relay and got 12v

6. Checked voltage across the coil on the relay and got nothing with the car on and running (temp sensor bridged)

7. Removed the relay outer casing and pushed the contacts together, the pump ran fine

I can't think of any else to check but it looks like the relay is not getting a signal to switch the pump on then tell the ecu its drawing power so it doesn't go in to limp mode.

I thought about wiring up the pump plug with the resistors (the mod people do when they replace the charge cooler with and intercooler). Just to see if I can stop it going in to limp mode. Then wire the pump to a switch from the Battery just so I can drive it somewhere to get it checked out. do you think that will work?

Any help and advice greatly appreciated thanks. I'll document the fix in case it helps someone else later down the track.

Ive attached a few photos:

- Ecu pin out diagram

- Wiring diagram including charge collar pump an temp sensor

- Wiring arrangement to include resistors at pump connector

Thanks to the original posters for the photos, hope I'm not breaking any copyrights...

Gt Spoiler High Level Brake Lightinghttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/147319-gt-spoiler-high-level-brake-lighting/Hi,

I have just bought a Celica GT!! and was wondering why the high level brake light is blanked off on the rear spoiler. I know it isn't really needed I suppose as there is already one on the back, but is it possible to activate it? I see it seems to be covered by a silver metal blanking type plate.

Thanks

Andy

Gen 7 Celica engine under tray replacementhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/221068-gen-7-celica-engine-under-tray-replacement/ Hi all, I just discovered my engine under tray is missing apart from one piece at front of radiator. I have been searching for a replacement and noticed a link to a Facebook post for orders being taken for alloy trays. But cannot find any further info on this. Does any one know a source for this or is it better to replace with original parts. Any info you can give will be well received .

Cheers for now

ST205 Celica GT4 Rear Brake Caliper/ Threaded Insert Please!https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220876-st205-celica-gt4-rear-brake-caliper-threaded-insert-please/ Anyone in the UK have a spare threaded brake caliper insert that might fit the rear caliper on my ST205 Celica GT-4? This one had a bolt break off inside it. Tried to drill it out but its stuck real good. Probably better at this point just being replaced. Tried the parts stores and Toyota but they don't assign it a parts number. I don't know if these are the same on other Celicas but I know the ST205 GT-4 uses the equivalent of Supra calipers and rotors. I would love to find a replacement insert or an old caliper I could remove one from or whatever other option y'all might have.

I know they have been discontinued but wondered if anyone had a work around or knew of a supplier?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mk6 1995 Diagnosticshttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/219588-mk6-1995-diagnostics/ Hello All,
I have a  1995 Mk6 GT2.0.
Have just had a bit of an MOT disaster on the CO emissions.
It usually gets flagged up and my mechanic gets it through by using an additive and warming the engine up before retest.
But this time that hasn’t helped.
He said we will need a diagnostic tool for this model car and none of his will work on a car of this age.
My questions are:
    1.    Is it still possible to buy one of these somewhere?
    2.    If not, is it possible to buy something similar + an adaptor that will fit the port.
    3.    Google tells me it is an OBD 1 port - so could an adaptor for this be used on a newer tool if I can get one?
    4.    My mechanic suggested trying to find someone local who owns one, but not sure how to go about that. I’m in South West London, so I guess there could be someone near here.
Bit worried - if I can’t find a tool that will help mechanic diagnose the problem - could be the end of my lovely car. :(
Grateful for any advice please.
Many thanks,
Jon

O2 sensor plugs locationhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/219513-o2-sensor-plugs-location/ Hiya.  Recently bought an 97 import celica.  Failed mot on emissions.  And on inspection there are no sensors on the exhaust at all.  Been over it thoroughly.  But before I buy new exhaust and sensors I wanted to make sure the sensor plugs are there and intact.  But not sure where to start looking.   Done hours of Internet digging but really struggling here.  Any help would be appreciated.   Cheers

Celica ST205 1994 engine oilhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/219155-celica-st205-1994-engine-oil/ Hello, I am a bit confused about engine oils for celica st205. On one of celica gtfour websites it says to put 0w-50 fully synthetic oil, on Facebook st205 group people have different opinions what to put, 10w30 semi synthetic, 10w40 Fully synthetic. Mechanic that I use to service my car said it doesn’t need fully synthetic oil for my car and that semi synthetic would do just fine and that back in the 90s they didn’t even had fully synthetic???

my question is what back I’m the 90s did they use as engine oil for st205?
can I just use 10w30 semi synthetic and not waste money on fully synthetic?

my st205 is stock, imported from Japan, 180k km on the car.

thanks in advance

Struggling with gen 6 Celica GT power steering pump removalhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/198470-struggling-with-gen-6-celica-gt-power-steering-pump-removal/ Has anyone done this? Removing this pump is ruining my life, it is in the worst position imaginable, and access is a nightmare. So far I've removed the lower mounting bolt including the bracket stay and a high pressure banjo I reached from the top if the engine bay. If I could remove the pulley then I wouldn't be so miserable about getting to the upper mounting bolt, but even removing the pulley is proving hard. I've tried wedging pry bars and screwdrivers to prevent the pulley from spinning and stacking spanners together to increase my leverage to crack the bolt free and nothing is working.

Exhaust System/De cathttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/218970-exhaust-systemde-cat/ Hi

I had a rattle from my exhaust system today, took it to the garage and they noticed the hole where the exhaust system goes into the manifold is bigger than the exhaust suggesting they person before me used an upgraded exhaust system, if that makes sense??? I'm not very clued up on it to be honest but I've been told I'd be better off upgrading my exhaust system, maybe to a down pipe or a de cat stainless steel sport one? I don't need to worry about doing the manifold or buying a new back box so just the exhaust system itself.

Can I have some recommendations preferably with links please as to what you would recommend I get for my 02 plate Celica VVTLI 190bhp please?? As I don't really know what I am doing I'm not going to lie.

Kind Regards
