Yes and it is still as cack as it was in 1975, it only sold because of good marketing and it's lovely colour green 👍

Your showing your ignorance again, it’s lubricated my old Corolla for most of it’s 170,000 miles, and previously for 100,000 miles in a Ford Sierra, and 70,000 in a Mini, without any engine bearing failures, so it certainly isn’t ‘cack’.  Back then I worked for Britains major plain bearing manufacturer and they used Duckhams 20-50 in all their test car engines, so they obviously held it in some esteem.

Ive not seen that since the Duckhams rep last visited here in 1975

I bet the selling point then was that it was multigrade and not a straight oil 🙂

I will be buying some when needed for my old Corolla.

There are plenty of 20w50 options available - including Duckhams.

It was modern of it's time, indeed a multigrade, but had nothing to offer in terms of it being a "better" oil, we sold thousands of gallons of the stuff. They had terrific marketing, and did very good terms for dealers to have it in bulk tanks with free loans and cashback deals

Ah, the good ole days, I remember buying Duckhams QXR back in the day, but as you say it disappeared, bit like the car accessory shops that sold it, shame cos then just got stuck with boring Halfrauds.

Halfrauds 🙂

Yeah, our local council closed the main road down the road from our local car accessory shop,  and built a new road which eventually lead past Halfrauds!  Hence the passing traffic dried up, and it closed, which was a shame because although it was a very small shop it had 4 guys working in it as it was  popular for spares and was very helpful.  A second local shop has closed too 😞

Another good oil are Petronas, I use their syntium 7000 0w20 latest spec api GL-6 for my Auris hybrid since 2016 and now over 24 services exclusively with this oil the engine runs and sounds as good as new and still respectful oil consumption after 273 k miles .
