I see that thewheelshop sells one for the GT86 but the GR86 is not included in their list of Toyota cars, anyone know if it will fit the GR86?

The title should read GR86 🙄

GR 86 Test drive.https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220962-gr-86-test-drive/ Today I test drove a GR86, whilst I wasn't surprised by road noise on some surfaces, engine (augmented) sound, what I was surprised was that I found it very difficult to set off smoothly and also have a smooth 1st to 2nd gear, I don't think its me as I have absolutely no problem in my Caterham, which was the car I actually drove to the test.

Anybody else experienced this?

Cheers!

PS thoroughly enjoyed it and probably will buy, although only 27 mpg was a tad hard to see.

What engine oil do you use?https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220566-what-engine-oil-do-you-use/
My hand book says use SAE 0W-20 engine oil.

When I put my registration into:-
https://www.toyota.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-aftercare/oil-and-tyres

It said “Sorry, we couldn’t find your vehicle”.  All the other companies I tried said a similar thing when I put my registration in, so I had to put in my car details individually:-

For:-
https://www.castrol.com/en_gb/united-kingdom/home/car-engine-oil-and-fluids/motor-oil-and-fluids-finder.html

The first oil it suggested was “Castrol MAGNATEC Hybrid 0W-20”, but this is for hybrids, would there being any advantage in using this?

The second oil suggested was “Castrol EDGE 0W-20 C5”, this is what I am inclined to use.  However, I am a bit anti Castrol since they took over Duckhams and stopped manufacturing their 20-50 oil (for my old Corolla).  I believe this is fully synthetic but the website does not actually say that!

For:-
https://www.mobil.co.uk/en-gb/engine-oil/mobil-1/car/mobil-1-0w-20

The first oil it suggested was Mobil 1™ ESP X2 0W-20 “an advanced full synthetic engine oil”.

I tried:-
https://www.commaoil.com/

But it was pain to use and then didn’t give an engine oil!

https://www.mymotorworld.com

Suggests Carlube Triple R 0W-20 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil R-TEC 4 5L but that is about half the price at £26.99 of Castol, so not keen on that.

Any advice please?

Edit: my GR86 has only done 1600 miles but being old school, I thought that I would change it now and then again under warranty in September.

Anyone fitted a space saver wheel in the boot?https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220362-anyone-fitted-a-space-saver-wheel-in-the-boot/ Just wondered if anyone has fitted a space saver wheel in the boot, and did you buy a Toyota screw type device to hold it in place, as there is a screwed hole in the floor presumably for such a device.

I posted here rathe than the GR86 sub because there is more of a chance that someone has done this in the GT86 and I assume the boot wells are the same.

Anyone fitted mud flaps on the GT/GR86 and had problemshttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220091-anyone-fitted-mud-flaps-on-the-gtgr86-and-had-problems/ I just wondered if there are any problems like corrosion or build up of crud around them?  I would put some grease, that they use in the marine environment, on the screws and could replenish it every now and then, so corrosion shouldn’t be a problem. Additionally, I may only fit the front ones as there is not much to protect at the back.

If anyone is interested, this is an American video showing how to fit them, it looks pretty simple, I assume they are universal:-

https://youtu.be/i4YpjcEzc30

I put this here because I would think that the fittings are the same for both cars and there is more of a chance of someone having them fitted to a GT

Is Tuning Developments still in business?https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/206032-is-tuning-developments-still-in-business/ I've recently become the proud owner of a GT86, and I want to get a TD exhaust fitted.  I've called them numerous times, and emailed, and so far, no response.  Does anyone know whether they are still operating?

New GT86 owner, ex yaris t sporthttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/216091-new-gt86-owner-ex-yaris-t-sport/ Hi all,

been on the forum for a little while now, but mainly on the yaris forum.  I sold my t-sport a few months back and was looking for something else.  Really nice 2012 gt86 that was also quite local to me popped up and i was glad to bring it back today.  Really nice car, but needs some tidying up, had AP racing brakes (look like 4 pots), coilovers and a few other tweeks.

First things first though, a good wash, clean, polish and hoover up, remoisturise the seals etc.  That'll take a good few days.  Water in the rear light too (RHS) and a slight knocking at the front.

Just a question though, is the clutch biting point meant to be really high up?  Plus its a bit jumpy at low speeds - i'll run some injector cleaner through it for a few tanks to see if that improves things.

Doesn't have the users manual and folder - anywhere i could get hold of one?

Finally if anyone has any pics of their engine bay i'd be keen to see what it should look like.  Thanks

Hasan

drivers door mirror issuehttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/216373-drivers-door-mirror-issue/ My drivers door mirror seems to have a mind of it own, it will sometimes open fully, sometimes partially and sometimes not at all.  The issue here then is though the passenger mirror operates normally, if has opened and is now to  be closed the drivers will also try and close whilst already in the closed position (if that makes sense!)

I'd like to dismantle it and it looks like it can be removed from behind the door card.  Thereafter, what's the best way to get to the mechanism and are there any limit switches etc that can be accessed?  On older cars you could just pop off the mirror to get to the drive motors.

Thanks

drivers door window seal catchinghttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/216374-drivers-door-window-seal-catching/ Another annoyance - winding the drivers door window up there is a portion in the middle of the window just before it curves down towards the front where the glass seems to get 'stuck' to the door seal and pulls it up instead of just sliding over it.  I've polished the glass, cleaned the seal and sprayed with silicone spray which works for a while but it then catches again.  There doesnt seem to be any misalignment of the frame and the seal looks like it is seated correctly.  I pulled it out and refitted it just to be sure.

Any other suggestions?  Thanks

GT86 immobiliserhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/198447-gt86-immobiliser/ Hi all

not sure why I have not joined previously but its great to see such an inclusive club.

I have an issue with a 2013 GT86 that started a few weeks ago after being stood through lockdown, We went to run the car up and it would not start so I had it checked locally and a low Battery was diagnosed, a new one was ordered and fitted but the vehicle still refused to start with the RED LOCK flashing on the dashboard, next new key fob batteries were placed in both keys and they were tried separately still no change.

i then quit and booked the car in with my local Toyota main dealer, this proved difficult as the steering lock was stuck on so winching it on and off the trailer proved eventful.

Long story short although booked in for a specific day the vehicle languished at the dealer for three weeks with me constantly chasing them for any level of news finally after 3.5 weeks I have been told the immobiliser ECU is at fault and it is £2833.45 to replace it.

i appreciate this is an 8 year old car that has covered 30k but I am truly shocked.

Question 1

has anyone else out there had GT86 Immobiliser failure

Question 2

is it possible to remove or program out the immobiliser

Any help or information will be gratefully accepted
