Android Auto Google Maps Navigation Volume

Can anyone help?

I can't turn the volume up on Google maps

When I try to use the volume knob on the cars head unit when the prompt speaks the direction it either does nothing or does it turn the Spotify music up, can't remember now I've tried so many things?

Same issue trying it on the volume controls on the steering wheel on the left hand side, the music will mute while the navigation prompt starts speaking but as soon as I press the + volume up on the steering wheel it turns Spotify back on and the volume up on that

How can I get the maps to turn the volume up? I've tried using the volume on my phone....adjusted the settings on the map app for louder

I've seen a thread where someone said when the voice prompt...hey Google starts try and do it that way from there?

Use the option on steering wheel to get the assistant to listen and then use the steering wheel volume buttons...I've yet to try this option ...just found it today but partner is out in the car

Using the car volume controls it should change the volume of the navigation voice if you change it whilst it is giving you directions. I would try doing this without using an android music app playing and see if that is the issue.

Mine works fine like this but I dont use an android music app I just use the car one.

When I used the steering wheel volume on the left hand side when the navigation is talking it turns Spotify up

If I use the dial on the head unit it does nothing

I took Spotify off and again it didn't do anything.

Tried turning up volume on phone but no

Same with the assistant ...very quiet too.

I'm going to try and disable bluetooth from the head unit today and see if that helps

I have the maps on louder from my phone settings

I asked the assistant to turn her volume up and she said it's on the max

I have to play music at at least 35 and in my nissan juke 15 was prob the same level

Dont forget it uses the combination of your car volume and your phone volume when connected to android auto. so make sure you car volume is at the volume you want then get google to speak navigation and when its talking use the car volume again to turn up or down and that should adjust the google nav volume as they are two different volumes.

So if you had your car volume really loud for example and set the google volume to be quieter then turned the car volume down the google volume will become very quite as you have turned down the car volume when google volume was lower to start with. I generally have them set to the same as it will quite the music source when it speaks.

You adjusting the volume on the phone will not make a difference as this is not reflected on android auto I have found.

wow I have mine set to 6 make sure you also have the adaptive volume adjust set on the car. Not sure if this is a spec specific so you will have to check in the manual.

This might help you aswell https://support.google.com/maps/answer/11523237?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid

Using the volume knob on the head unit when the navigation is talking doesn't do anything with the sound and when I use the steering wheel buttons it turns my Spotify up

What level is best for the adaptive sound?  Off, low, med or high?

On the link you sent I had play voice over bluetooth unselected ...I've selected this now.

I'll try again tomorrow 🙄

I've considered going to an auto electrical shop that do car stereos to see if they can help .. especially since the sound is quiet on the stereo in general

Why don't you just stop using Spotify while you are getting it set up?

Tried that aswell. Removed it from android auto and it still didn't work

I've found some setting on the head unit and made that maximum and now the map directions are a lot better ...android assistant still a bit quiet but I can live with that

Next issue is when I ask the assistant to send a message using WhatsApp and I say send ...it doesn't arrive until I get to whoever I messaged ...say I message home...I'm on my way...that doesn't arrive until I arrive home 🤔

That could be a network thing. What's App uses internet, not phone or text, so if the 4G or whatever isn't solid the message might not get sent until the phone gets on a WiFi network such as your home one.

I'm sure there's other possibilities ...

It worked when I got the car a few weeks ago

There's been a few updates since then for WhatsApp and android auto ...I'll switch my phone off and on and see what happens

Not been able to send an SMS either and that uses data only doesn't it...although I have RCS on so I wonder if that is the issue there

It doesn't use 'internet' data - 4G or the like - unless you attach something that makes it an MMS. Generally SMS can get through even if there's not enough signal to make a call, so that does suggest it's something preventing it being sent rather than not getting through.

Wouldn't be surprised if an update has broken it.
