Same method. The equivalent of a flow meter on a fuel pump would be a KWh meter on your charging station. Per-journey isn't practical to do, but then again, I don't see the relevance of such information when all journeys have to be paid for. If I look at the stats for driving home from my in-laws then the economy is always fantastic - it's all downhill.

Its a HEV so no “charging station”

In that case, I don't understand why would you be interested in how much energy you've consumed electrically? It was all generated from fuel in the first place, so the only metric by which you can measure energy efficiency is the average mpg.

The sensible option for the OP would be to just keep the Ioniq they already have seeing as they love its economy so much.

Yeah, I don't know how they're getting 85mpg in that but if they are they should keep it!!

I tried this tank, and managed to get up to 84.1mpg in the first 100 miles of the current tank, but I'm already slipping and am just holding on at 79.6mpg :fear:

I don't think I'll be able to get it back up unless I get much luckier with traffic and incidents! (I've seen more fire engines, burning and upside down cars in the past week than I have all year!! )

Drive round the m25 east to west. There are enough 50mph zones and 10mph traffic queues to boost your mpg to 85 over 60 miles.

Oh god tell me about it!! Ever since they decided to put in those 2 more Smart Motorway laybys and reduce those sections to 3 lanes and 50mph, my journey times have more than doubled! The approaches to South Mimms are absolute murder at rush hour! :fear:

It has encouraged me to find alternative routes, which has also revealed some more fun hooning roads to me :naughty:

Unfortunately it seems everyone else is too, and a lot of these roads, while fine for 2 opposing normal cars, are not wide enough for 2 opposing SUVs so I'm yet again being held up by my arch nemesis!!

Just saying.
From m25 m3/A3-portsmouth a27 to hastings a21 back to m25 was quicker than sitting in traffic last wednesday

Don't talk to me about traffic! I take Louisa to work every morning Monday to Friday, (I have to bring her home again at tea time 😉), which is 10 miles each way. The other morning, it took me 5 minutes longer to get her to work cos of the flippin' tractors - 4 of 'em!

Just keep telling yourself they are helping you save fuel by letting the car run in EV mode for longer. It's the only way I stay sane sometimes when I'm stuck behind a slow queue!!
