According to the online training it was supposed to be integrated into the MyToyota app but that doesnt work, or rather doesnt allow the addition of the charger to "My Garage" within the app as per the instructions.

Do you have the latest version of the My Toyota App installed?

It might be worth going to the Google Play Store / Apple App Store to check ... I didn't but do now - there was an update at the end of May (but it makes no difference to me). I'm clutching at straws ...

Quick update, still no joy have to wait again for British Gas but I checked last night the box is on, the power is fine, it just doesnt lock the cable in place and start charging. I have made sure there are no schedules either on the box or the car.

British Gas called me today and said the Toyota box is only visible to Toyota not them, so yet again the finger pointing started. Still no answers on what is wrong from Toyota but seems they cant manage their own boxes.

Thanks for all the useful suggestions I assume I am the only person in the UK with a Toyota homecharge box! I will come back once they have found a solution and let you all know what it is.

In that case, I will be the 2nd person to have a Toyota Homecharger come July.  Will update you all.

An update from British Gas/Hive.....
They are arranging to come and remove the Toyota homecharge because "Toyota do not have the software ready at their end for their boxes to work" was the explanation.

They are going to fit one of their favoured chargers instead which I will be able to control from the Hive app. Still not heard anything from Toyota. Dont have a date yet for when they are coming but hopefully it will be soon.

Oh that's hilarious... did nobody check these things before hand!? It really feels like we're still in the beta-testing phase with all this stuff, except the customer is the beta-tester!!

Then again that's basically how Windows 10 and 11's QA is done so I guess this is the new normal... :fear:

Spot on we really are testing it for them. Worse than that Toyota have spent months blaming British Gas for this rather than admit it, if they had been honest the installer could have installed the correct charger, he had one that would have worked in his van!

my advice is don't hold your breath!

MY ADVICE IS “DON’T BELIEVE A WORD AND NEGOTIATE A DIFFERENT DEAL”.  It took 5 weeks for British Gas to arrange a “survey” which was done on my smartphone clarifying the detail I’d given in the first contact form.  I knew mine would be a non standard fitting since my car port is at the bottom of a tiny 7 metre garden and I do not want to reverse in on dark nights so the car charge point would be in the middle.  (It is a sturdy slate roofed shared car port) THat meant a 25 metre run from our electricity meter. During the eventual survey the guy on the other end said they would not run the cable down the garden fence, it would need a half metre deep trench. The only other route would be a charger on the conservatory wall with a 10 metre cable (but that would mean reversing in). Asked when it woiuld be fitted he replied 2 to 5 weeks but some areas are busier than others.  Cost of the trench ? Over £500 and probably higher. Cost of the 10m cable ? £180. meanwhile I asked a local supplier Go Electric Ltd for a quote. Got a same day survey, no problems with routing, several other savings, and a final quote for Ohme charger with 5m tethered cable in the middle of the carport: £1270 and as firm fitting datea week on Monday.  I will be writing to British Gas and Toyota UK explaining why I am rejecting their offer. Yes, I know I have paid over the odds but Peace of mind and escape from British Gas devious and unreliable clutches is everything…..and I won’t be upsetting my neighbours with a trench down our shared passageway.    I wish I had done my home work but the deadline for the offer was 31 May and I had no choice.  Be warned!  I have no connection with Go Electric Ltd except as a potential customer but their “can do” attitude is impressive.
