Toyota Remote Park app

I am confused too especially as the sales literature led me to expect that I would get remote parking with my just delivered Vision BZ4x

Does anyone know if the iPhone compatible app is available anywhere in the world and has anyone found a workround please

I'm guessing it's something with the Apple store, is it possible to 'side load' apps from other sources or see earlier versions of an app.
To be honest I stopped buying Apple devices when they changed the IOS and suddenly I was no longer able to download the Hue app to control the lights in my home, even though the app hadn't changed. Apple just decided my phone was no longer 'new' enough to be able to run the app.

I've found the press release dated July 2023 where it does actually mention Remote Park BZ4X 2023 Press Pack

Thank you especially for the press release. I shall be writing to the CE/Chair of all relevant Toyota companies expressing my feeling of being mis-sold, happy to post this once sent if others are interested.

The facility is of value given the wdth of the car and the narrowness of parking spaces.

I don't think that will get you very far ... the spec says that the Vision model is equipped with Remote Controlled Parking Assist, and presumably it is because folk are using the feature. The Remote Park app is available on:

So, it would appear that Toyota have fulfilled their part of the bargain. Google / Android users seem happy. I would suggest that your 'beef' is with Apple.

As I understand, there has been something of a dispute between Apple and the EU over Apple's anti-competitive practices on their App Store - or something like that. The absence of the Remote Park app could be a victim of that ... I don't know - just a thought.

As @philip42h said, it seems that it's something to do with Apple and maybe Toyota aren't even aware that it's not possible to download the app from the Apple Store.
It seems that Apple are being forced by the EU to allow 'sideloading' of apps, but knowing Apple they will compile with the ruling, but make it very complicated and difficult.

Johnathan Thank you

I do not seem to be able to find the Android version of the phone on Google either but I may not be looking at the right place if anyone has checked later please let me know if it is still there.

I think that Toyota are the only party with the standing to resolve this.    Loosely speaking the offer was part of their offer for sale.  It is their App and I think they have a duty to provide a means of distribution.  If it is a matter of either IOS or Android declining to allow the App to continue operating it is for Toyota to explain what they are doing about an alternative.

I do not think there can be a fundamental technical problem the app has been available at least as late as 23 Jun 2023 and versions seem to still be operating.  It is also presumably not an EU problem in BREXIT Britain.

Further ideas very welcome.

Remote park Europe. I have it on my phone, though I'm still actually waiting on delivery of the car, so don't know if it actually works

1 I tried to follow the link image.thumb.png.cdbef38a0a91080ec6b6f5e3a3a8b90b.pngas you can see Google play say 'We are sorry the requested link was not found on this server'.  I should think the installation will work though.

I will amend my profile to give details of my recent Toyota Cars.  I have only had my BZ4X Vision since Friday the 21ast January and am still working on learning the voice commands in particular.

I think the app has been removed for some reason, hopefully it will reappear (the new CH-R lists remote park as a feature). You should be able to find it on APK sites.
I can confirm that having already installed the app before it seems to have vanished that it does work.

At first I kept getting a message that the car didn't support remote park, but I was ignoring the message in the app that I needed to disconnect from the multimedia system before trying to link the remote park app.
Once I'd done that I was able to connect.

Not been brave enough to try it properly, but I was able to move the car on the drive as if someone was parked too close.
Very easy steps too;

1. Unlock the car
2. start the app
3. select the direction of travel
4. rotate the 'dial' on screen to move the car.

Was funny as someone was visiting nextdoor and I think I made them jump seeing the car moving with nobody in the drivers seat 🙂

Lexus built the equipment in the RZ but said the facility is unavailable - they removed the required App from the store. I was told by customer service it was because of possible liability - I pointed out it is still being marketed for the RX and then they said they didn’t know why.
I think it’s because they are concerned that even a minor shunt could result in the car being written off / high repair cost due to the Battery being damaged - hence the ban effects the BZ & RZ.

App is still available in the UK Google play app store:

Johnathan since other cars will have the call forward from a narrow car park space function and car park spaces are continually being made narrower our BZ4x cars are likely to lose value compared to the value they would have had if the remote parking I was 'offered' when I ordered was provided.   There is an actual loss to customers here but hopefully the app will come back

I understand your concerns regarding the potential impact of the missing remote parking feature on the resale value of our BZ4x cars. While it’s true that modern vehicles are increasingly equipped with advanced features like remote parking, the absence of this particular function may not necessarily result in a significant depreciation of the car’s value. Factors such as the car’s overall condition, market demand, and brand reputation often play a more substantial role in determining resale value. Moreover, technological advancements and feature updates are common in the automotive industry, and the potential introduction of the app could mitigate any temporary disadvantage. It’s also worth noting that many consumers prioritize different aspects of a vehicle, and not all may consider remote parking a decisive factor in their purchase.

The app on Google has been updated recently so I wonder if it's reappeared for people to download?

Great to hear from Ugur.

I hope I did not cause confusion by referring to comparative values with other  makes.  That of cause is affected by more than one feature and in the case of individual cars by vehicle condition.

I think however that if the remote parking feature is presented as adding value then, ipso facto, that claimed value is lost by the failure to provide it.   I frequently drive in a part of the country with overloaded car parks and over narrow spaces.  Without the 'offer' of remote parking at the time I ordered my BZ4x Vision I would have bought a vehicle with the feature instead.   My formal complaint is with Toyota UK, hopefully they will respond by restoring the app or refunding my money.

Interestingly, I had previously downloaded the Remote Park Europe app on Apple App Store last year (in preparation to replace my Motion with a Vision).  This year I updated my iPhone and, as the iCloud does not store my apps as backup, all my apps were automatically redownloaded to my new iPhone.  Some apps did not download (showing a cloud against them) as they were no longer supported by the new iPhone or had been removed from the App Store.  This was not the case however with Remote Park Europe.  Despite it not being visible on the App Store when searching, it did automatically redownload to the new iPhone.  I have tested it with my Vision and it works!  Yay!  It just annoys the daughter as she did not download the app when it was visible on the App Store last year and now cannot remote park her new Vision.

Toyota's customer service for software is crap, but they're great at hardware.
