BZ4x dashboard msg “ Power consumption “https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220843-bz4x-dashboard-msg-%E2%80%9C-power-consumption-%E2%80%9C/ Does anyone no what this msg is all about it keeps popping up …

thank you in advance…

also I did a 220 mile trip the other day( at 100% battery)  and had 6% left , yet the car only took 54kw to get it back to 100% battery… so I estimate that the available Battery on this car is approximately 64kw…average speed of 60 mph … power consumption of around 3.5-4 miles per kw.

Towing hookhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/221859-towing-hook/ Has anyone gone with the towing hook? I'm thinking about getting one, just can't make mind whether fixed or removable. Are there any physical differences between them? The reason behind the removable is that I don't want to be hitting it with my legs when walking behind the car.

Ordering new bZ4X, what do I need to knowhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/221712-ordering-new-bz4x-what-do-i-need-to-know/ My 15yo Prius+ just got terminally ill. We're looking to go EV and bZ4X is our no.1 choice. We did a test-drive, and it has a big boots to fill, as we're very pleased with the quietness and softness of the Prius+ drive. I know, it will be almost 2x power and all the new bells and whistles I would have to get used to and depend on, lol.

Following this forum and reddit, I can see one of the issues is that some home charges are more other less compatible with this car. Any advice?

How do you find public charging, which ones give you less and which most trouble or slow charge? (UK)

Any interesting stories, experiences, when you switched over from ICE or other EV?

Sat Nav Layouthttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/221769-sat-nav-layout/ I have a right-hand drive BZ4X Vision and whilst I love it, the layout of the Satnav is driving me nuts.

It was clearly designed for the left-hand model as all the useful information - Time to Arrive, Distance to go, junction details on m-ways and also the popup when coming to a junction are all on the left hand side of the screen! Whilst my distance vision is good and even with biggest size font selected - I can't read the Time to Arrive & Distance text.

I have seen a screenshot of an Australian BZ4X and they seem to have the SatNav layout out the way I need it with all that info on the right of the screen, so it just needs an eye flick to see it :

image.thumb.png.da2ea39d68fb92aed0b523290709ab42.png

Why does my UK car have the layout the wrong way? Is it possible to get it changed? I cannot find anything in the settings.

Cheers

Opening and closing windows with the keyhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/221721-opening-and-closing-windows-with-the-key/ As summer approaches I've got out of the car without having put the windows up. For the last 20 years across various car I've been able to remedy this by holding the lock car button on the key down. It doesn't work on my BZ4X. I've spoken to my garage and they've said it can be changed but it's a workshop fix. Anybody else had this problem and got a driveway fix? Thanks.

What should I do when I leave the bz4x not driven for 6weekshttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/221644-what-should-i-do-when-i-leave-the-bz4x-not-driven-for-6weeks/ Hi, Folks,
I will go for a business trip for about 6 weeks. I will have to leave the bz4x 2023 at my garage during this period. How should I keep the Battery safe?
I read some articles on internet. One suggests connecting the level 1 charger all the time and set the charging limit to 60%. Is that a good strategy? Or any other suggestions?
Thanks a bunch!

Jeff

Farewell BZ4Xhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/221345-farewell-bz4x/ Left my job, so had to give back my BZ4X Pure.

Very sad to see it go - was a lovely car to drive & I will miss it. The list below are the annoyances that Toyota could sort. For many people, Im sure most of these wont be an issue & that my username really needs to be princess&thepea

  • Initial range - 330 miles. Reality in winter was half that.  Settled on around 240 miles in spring.  The industry needs to be made to get real about a realistic range in their marketing literature
  • £40k for this car? Ouch!
  • For long journies, the journey became a much nicer event as we would plan a stop somewhere where there's a fast charger & somewhere nearby for a decent lunch/stop!  Found some brilliant pubs doing this & I loved the fact that it forced you to put some effort into finding somewhere nice to take a break, instead of that desire to get to your destination as quickly as possible
  • No rear windscreen wiper.  My rear windscreen was always smeared & it definitely needs a rear wiper
  • Seats don't have much depth & had to raise my seat significantly as am 6ft1 & long legs. This meant getting in I would always be hitting my head on roof door.  Especially true of the rear seat - lots of legroom but little support for people with long legs
  • Great infotainment system but No Android Auto. Tried many 3rd party options but none worked continually, so had to settle with small right angled USB cable.  They really need to sort this along with the phone holder.
  • Infotainment would frequently log out of Toyota website & require you to rekey the password (which due to security settings has to be alpha numerics & a character). So meant having to pull over or put up with a nagware warning screen reappearing while driving which is very distracting.  I think maybe this might have happened when starting the vehicle with no mobile signal, but cant be sure
  • 1 foot pedal driving - tried & decided I didn't like
  • Phone holder too small for a larger phone connected to USB & being able to close the drawer.  Thankfully I have a  pixel 6 which is small footprint
  • Don't like the black shiny finish inside - scratches too easily & constantly has fingerprints all over it!
  • Centre armrest comfortable, but door armrests need more padding & were uncomfortable on long journies
  • Couldn't turn off rear seat belt alarms - if you put anything of weight on backseat then you would have to use seatbelts as well! Accept this might be legislation forcing this, but there should be ability for this to be disabled?
  • Rear parcel "shelf" is rubbish & there are massive gaps everywhere. Skoda have a much better cassette type system.
  • Big boot, but lack of boot storage options - would be nice to have a couple of removable dividers to create a space to put 1 or 2 shopping bags by the wheel arches
  • Connecting the charger up sometimes resulted in charger not being connected - there is clearly an issue with the connector/cable provided & been reported elsewhere on here
  • No proper storage place for charging cable.  I'd love to see them make space in the bonnet for the type 2 connector cable, as not all charging points have installed charging cables. Under boot is not really an option when you have lots of luggage
  • Extremely rough ride on country roads - feeling every single bump. Seemed to be fine around town & on motorways.
  • Windows let in a lot of noise - I know its not a Lexus, but it did feel noisy at times.
  • Dashboard creaks & squeaks after a couple of months.  As I knew I was returning the car, I didn't bother getting sorted, but it became an annoyance on long journies.
  • Bottle holders in doors are just moulded plastic, so bottles would rattle.  Better would be a softer plastic, or with a rubber coating etc like other vehicles.  My 10 year old Octavia had better drinks holders
  • No glove box & no tidy storage options!  The bottom console area feels like a waste how its designed & I didn't use it often!
  • Adaptive Cruise Control worked well - as did lane assist.  However, the lane assist warning was poor. I would have both hands on steering wheel & no need to make corrections on motorways, yet it felt obliged to force me to make a correction & if I didn't would turn off the lane assist which is likely more of a risk!
  • Sign recognition for speed was very hit & miss. I don't know what its like in other cars, but I found it could be very misleading & I doubt a police officer/court would accept that as a reason for speeding
  • Rear camera was great for basic car. Id like to see it have a front camera as well, along with remote view (handy for parking in car parks to see when a charging bay becomes empty!)
  • Steering felt solid. Got used to how it covers up the console dashboard
  • Aircon worked well - remote aircon great using keyfob.  But disappointing it kicks off immediately you unlock the car!
  • Hubcaps poorly fitted from factory, trying to put air in tyres was very hard to do!
  • Using app to set climate control would always fail in the mornings - would try 3/4 times & end up resorting to using keyfob.  App overall is poor, would frequently log out or unable to connect to car.

Could never get the overnight charging continually working with Octopus & myenergi v2.  Each time we had been away & I tried to set it to only charge overnight it would fail, so would end up waiting up til 11.30 pm to manually charge!  This is likely to be a fault/issue with the charger not the car

Would I get another?  Maybe, but think I would definitely try out the competition next time.  Theyve got a lot right with the BZ4X, but there's room for tweaking!

Appreciated all the support & guidance I received on the forum - thank you.

anyone have an issue with scheduled charging on BZX4?https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/219280-anyone-have-an-issue-with-scheduled-charging-on-bzx4/ Hi all

Im having issues with scheduled charging. Im with Octopus with their overnight tariff which is great, but every morning Im waking up & finding my car is failing to charge!

Ive tried every combination I can think of - using the Zappi App, Octopus App but the only time it seems to charge is if I sit in the car and hit the Charge now button.

Im on Octopus Intelligent Go, with a Zappi 2 charger (installed by Octopus) - does anyone have the same setup that could tell me how you have all your apps & charging device all setup?

thanks

Chargebox consumption and derived stuffhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220728-chargebox-consumption-and-derived-stuff/ Apperently my 2024 awd would need something like

y = (100 - x) * 70.4 * 1.15

in kwh to charge back up to 100%, x being the SOC (state of charge) to start with in a fraction between 0 to 100 (percent)

This was observed from 30-80% SOC at temperatures slightly above freezing to some 10 degrees Celcius using my home 11kw Easee box

It may sugges the full nominel (beyound usable) capacity of the Battery is at play with a charge overhead/loss for heating at around 15% - or that the overhead for heating battery/cabin is bigger still

During summer it may be possible to make a better assessment of the overhead/loss since less heating up would be expected

So please take this indicational only at this point. I am of course also only guessing the capacity at play but lowering it would make the overhead even larger

Using that figure the cost of energy running my bz on average is 22.7 kwh per 100 kms, or 4.4km/kwh on the first 3000 kms on relatively flat landscape with quite a fraction of motorways. For me that equals so far an average 0.02 EUR/GBP per km or 15% of my former diesel cost for the fuel 🤑 Energy pricing may be even lower up ahead (due to summer, for instance)

As BEV's are in every aspect cheaper (buy, loans, insurance, taxes, service) or a lot cheaper (energy) compared to fossils at my place is seems quite hard to regret my crossing-over 🥳

The bz's own suggestion is a range of 311 kms with A/C, 358 kms without. Practices suggest around 300 kms with my circumstances up to 130kms/h where feasible. Keeping it below 110kms/h may be a better fit to the range model used by the bz from where I see it

Since I got rid of 3 elder fossiles (one as the toy and spare when one of the others had a defect), I'm still looking into the better option for another BEV - having the awd-exec or solterra touring on the radar (current one an awd-prestige), or try out an eqa-amg-350 since there is quite an offer for a 12month lease on that on now, making finances on the same levels, even if consumption may be larger (the least part of things, obviously)

Fast charging on a superchargerhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/219945-fast-charging-on-a-supercharger/  Very disappointed today 250miles on the clock and went to use a fast charger with 50% battery… connected to 300kw charger ..

speed was 38kw only and 8 hours to fill up.

Luckily I only need 40 miles to get me home…

I had driven 4 miles to the supermarket so the Battery would not have been to hot.

Snow chains - why only on the front?https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/221165-snow-chains-why-only-on-the-front/ Manual suggests to mount chains only on the front, not the rear axle. This recommendation does not vary across fwd and awd vehicles. On my landcruiser 100 i used chains on all 4 wheels. Anyone knows why only front is recommended for the bZ ?

bZ4X Remote Parking Functionhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/211989-bz4x-remote-parking-function/ Hello,

Today, I was discovering car settings and the infotainment menu. I saw that remote parking is activated on the car side but the MyT application is not operational to use this function. This means if remote parking becomes legal, we may get this feature in the future!

bZ4X Second Smart Keyhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220956-bz4x-second-smart-key/ Hi All,

My bZ4X was delivered in mid-March, and so far I am really liking the car! The only thing is that I only received one smart key (alongside a second mechanical key) upon delivery due to a shortage of microchips to manufacture these.

I was told that within the next 2 weeks I would likely be contacted by Toyota directly to get booked in and a second key programmed. However it’s now coming up to 2 months since delivery and I have heard nothing. When chasing the dealership they simply say to continue waiting.

Is anyone else in the same situation, and has anyone actually received their second key yet?

12 volt systemhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220635-12-volt-system/ I recently came back from a two week holiday to a flat 12 volt Battery. I am about to go away again and wondered if anyone has found a cure, other than having a separate Battery pack to jump start the vehicle? Does adding a schedule to the climate control of MyT start the vehicle so that it will charge the 12v system? There does not seem to be an off option on the climate schedule, just a day/time start and temperature, will it go off after a set period?

Anyone else struggling with scheduled charging (eON)?https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220886-anyone-else-struggling-with-scheduled-charging-eon/ Hi All,

First time posting here, but I've run out of options and need someone to tell me I'm not mad.

We took ownership of a brand new BZ4X in January and we are having a nightmare with it.

Around 25% of the time, the car will fail to charge.

We are with eON and will plug the car in around 10 or 11pm before we go to bed. There is no charging schedule set on the car; instead, our eON Next app has the schedule set to run between 00:15 and 06:45 when our rates are cheapest. Our tariff is eON drive.

Most of the time, we wake up and all is fine. However, 1 in 4 times we wake up to find that the car hasn't charged overnight.

In the eON app, it shows the car as 'plugged in but not charging'. When we look at the insights, it shows a charging session of 6:30 hours but with zero KWH drawn.

Our car has been in and out of the garage on three separate occasions and is currently with them now, with the highest level escalation to Toyota HO, but they are unable to find any fault or replicate the issue.

We are also experiencing the issue at public chargers, including my workplace. So, not just scheduled chargers, but immediate charges also - multiple locations, multiple charging point providers, multiple cables and multiple users.

We have raised a support ticket with eON who have looked at the logs and can't see anything wrong with the charger: they are seeing an error code that shows the car is suspending the charge.

We've eliminated WIFI as a potential cause. Our local Toyota garage have been supportive, but unable to find any issue; once we started saying we wanted to return the car their salesperson adopted quite a different tone and suggested we can't give it back because they can't find a fault.

So, we are now paying £500 a month for a car that fails to charge 25% of the time, where we can't rely on it for its intended purpose.

Looking at these forums I can see a few other threads from people experiencing charging issues. I'd like to know other people's experiences, but also advice on where we go from here: the garage don't seem able to replicate the issue, but it doesn't surprise me because they have totally different infrastructure to us at home.

Help, please!!
