Model Sub-Forums

Hi there, a suggestion I’ve thought of today.

within each Model sub-forum, it would be very handy if there were sub-sub-forums for each generation of that model. For example, on the Avensis section having the original model, as it’s own sub forum. Then one for the mid 2000s model. Then one for the 2011-15 models and one for the final model.

I’ve seen this on some other communities online for cars and I think it would be hugely beneficial.

for example, when I browse - just for leisure - the Avensis section today, more times than not it’s something about an older model, or different engine than mine. Even for that one nameplate, there is such a variety of engines / issues / tips and experiences. Being able to narrow it down to a specific shape model would probably make finding content easier for users of all skill levels and internet-searching capabilities.

How likely is this to happen?

How about a New separate thread just got Toyota MyT and MyToyota apps, there seem to be threads in most of the individual vehicle club forums, bringing them together may be helpful to members as it does appear that the current apps are somewhat flaky/buggy to say the least.

Just had an idea. There lots of members here. Could we introduce our own dpares services to toyota owners. Like a chat or channel where you post what part you after and like it can be sent out for a small fee.

I seen this sort of thing on wheeler dealers when it comes to classic restoration.

Think this system may work in ghis community. I want people views on this.

GR Yaris section

Hi, not sure if there's a section hidden away somewhere, but there doesn't seem to be anything for the GR Yaris (previous one or current) Searching on mobile doesn't give hits, presumably as GR is too short and Yaris returns too many.

It's the real poster model at the moment with over a year lead time due to demand, could we have a section perhaps? Cheers.

I have been struggling with the forum as i didn't know you could set it to show the last post in a thread when you click the forum title.

(especially useful for threads you have already viewed)

Could it be set as the default setting to save members getting frustrated?

If not here is how to set it for those who haven't found it -

Click the arrow next to your username (top right of screen)

Then click -

Account settings.

Content view behaviour.

Take me to latest content.

Save.

Is there something that can be done about the over aggressive censorship of all the words that contain UBIK ? (or more precisely that part of the anatomy that people sit on) I'm thinking oo works like :

co-UBIK
ho-UBIK
mUBIKille
p-UBIK-ed

and many that I can't think of, for the moment. It would seem the parsing algorithm is too aggressive.

I’m tempted by the premium membership, but I don’t live in the UK, so I can’t easily take advantage of, for example, the discounts offered to members.

I was wondering if it would be possible to create a membership level that reduced the ads, and still gave the other membership advantages without the discounts ?

I've just noticed you can't browse the forum anymore when not logged in! The search sometimes works or sometimes displays a page titled "Sorry you don't have permission for that" containing

Hi there, since forgetting my password, I changed to a new password ok but since doing so I can log in with no problem but when I try to go into forums I get logged out and get an error message come up with the code 2S119/1 does anyone now if the problem is my end or the site end. and I do press remember me.

I haven't been able to connect to the website for the past few days; Assumed server was down but just noticed the error was to do with TLS/SSL handshakes and not just being able to connect!

It seems at some point the webserver has dropped all encryption protocols except Elliptical Curve Cryptography ones, which Opera 11 doesn't support :(

Is there any chance you could re-enable some of the non-EC encryption methods please??

At the moment toyotaownersclub.com only supports:

I can't post or edit anymore unless I disable javascript, which also means I can't use things like smileys (esp. since the old :lol: -style of adding them doesn't seem to work anymore...!)

Hi guys,

I used to be a lifelong member (I guess I still am then) of TalkFord.com, by which all ads on the site were removed, providing a much nicer browsing experience.

I'm looking at buying a membership for this site, but I saw it says 'less and fewer ads'. Does it not remove them completely? I would only really be interested in this.

I'm a web developer myself so if I can help contribute to the site at all, I'd be happy to (I did this for TF).

Forum slow, glitchy and unresponsive on ipad

I'm having dreadful lag on only this forum when using my ipad Air 2. Dragging a page up/down is glitchy, and when typing I need to stop after each word for the screen to catch up with my key strokes. It's also happened a few times in the past but cured itself after a few days. Anyone else experiencing the same? I'm running ios 10.3.2.

I just tried to log in and it would NOT let me log in unless I filled in the Location, First Name, Last Name and Car detail fields - Is there a reason for this?

I'm a firm believer in supplying as little personal information to anything on the Internet without a good reason, and I don't see any good reason why any random visitor should have access to my real name and location.

It's not a big thing since I'm just putting bogus data in there, but I'd feel better if I didn't have to fill them in at all like with some of the other fields...

New look Website oddities.

Firstly, it was a bit of a shock, the other day, to find the new, white look, to the website....Aaaagh, my eyes!.....After a couple of days, I've got used to it though

Anyway, is it just me or is there a lot of "refreshing" of the pages needed? If I look at the forums, go away and come back later, I don't see new topics or posts and have to refresh/reload every time. There could be something under settings that I haven't found but I wonder if others are having the same problem, as it didn't happen on the old forums pages.

Like I say, it might just be me....But I wouldn't mind some advice from somebody, if I'm doing something wrong.
