Recommendations for work to be donehttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/221407-recommendations-for-work-to-be-done/ Hi all,

First time posting, currently have a 2015 Yaris 1.3 vvt excel, just reached over 100,000 miles and would like to know if there's anything that should be replaced on the car, outside of the usual full service? Heard reference to replacing vvt etc but no clairty on whether its necessary. Are regular oil changes necessary at this higher mileage? Thanks

Paint sprayers/people who've painted their own car- how?https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220452-paint-sprayerspeople-whove-painted-their-own-car-how/ Hi!

So I have a Toyota IQ with pearl white paint (this particular car model/paint colour is known to have a defect- I don't think a primer/base coat was applied properly so every now and then, paint starts to chip/flake off various areas of my car). Due to the defect, I've paid others to fix certain areas of the car, as and when the paint starts to flake off, but as you can imagine it does get pricey and with the age of my car and value, is it really worth me keep forking out?
The last person who painted my car gave me the left over paint (so the colour and I believe the base coat), so now I have it in my head that I could probably have a crack at it myself (probably a terrible mistake haha). Thing is, I don't really know what I'm doing, so if anyone can give me step by step instructions (and what I need to be able to do it) or point me in the direction of a video/online tutorial that can teach me somewhat, that would be great.
Thanks! 🙂

Soft-touch trim in C-HRhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/216452-soft-touch-trim-in-c-hr/ The trim across my facia and around the edge of my media system is, in my car, a medium blue.  To the touch it has a vinyl feel to it.  I have heard that care is needed to avoid scuffing/wearing down the surface finish when cleaning.  For his own car, our son uses baby wipes to clean the similar finish in his VW.  Does anyone know of a correct way to clean this trim?

Matt finish on new painthttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/215932-matt-finish-on-new-paint/ Hi All,

Looking for a bit of help. Ive repaired some rust/scratches on my Aygo. Ive managed to get a decent colour match for the base coat and applied clear Lacquer. Both were spray cans from Halfords (3-4 coats each). The final result has come out with a matt finish and rough to the touch. The Lacquer said it would produce a high gloss finish. How can I bring the new paint to a gloss finish to match the rest of the car?

The Lacquer said to wait a week before polishing/waxing for the best finish.

Ive ordered some Turtle Wax Ceramic Polish & Wax. Hoping this will bring out a glossy finish.

Cordless Pressure Washershttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/210636-cordless-pressure-washers/ I have moved to an apartment where there is no access to an outside water tap.  I’m thinking of buying a cordless pressure washer as I would prefer to clean my own vehicle rather than using the car wash sites around here.  The washer doesn’t need to be all that powerful as I’m more interested in a reliable user friendly machine.  Would appreciate any comments or recommendations.

Review of Mitchell and King leather productshttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/214973-review-of-mitchell-and-king-leather-products/ Hello all.

I bought M&K Cleanse and Nourish leather products and had a go yesterday.

The Cleanse really brought out a lot of muck on what looked like pretty clean seats.

I did two applications of the Nourish as the leather just soaked it up.

It's now really soft and supple.

I'm chuffed as it was a gamble as I'd just googled and took a punt.

So yes, I would recommend.

Scratch remover recommendations?https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/214807-scratch-remover-recommendations/ Suggestions please! My metallic paint finish 18 month old RAV4.5 has disappointingly picked up more fine scratches than any other car I ever had. I normally use Autiglym paint renovator however is there anything else I could try that will also work on the piano black gloss plastic exterior trim? I also find many of the interior plastic sections very susceptible to scratching, far more than my previous Volvo or Vw’s and Audi’s. Is there anything I can use to restore the black?

What is the difference between Pearl and Metallic paint?https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/214548-what-is-the-difference-between-pearl-and-metallic-paint/ What is the difference in appearance and care?  The rain seems to wash the dirt off of the metallic paint on my Corolla and doesn’t need washing very often.  However, after about 21 years the lacquer has stated to peal off which I believe is a known problem with the red metallic paint on my Corolla.

Cleaning plastic trimhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/212021-cleaning-plastic-trim/ My Yaris Cross is the first 'plastic' car I have had.  My problem is how to clean the plastic, the wheel arch trim, the sill liner, and the tail gate.  There are bits that are slightly scuffed and other that appear to have white polish residue from when the car was first handed over.

What is the bex=st way to restore the black finish?

Removing masking tape glue residue without damaging painthttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/214225-removing-masking-tape-glue-residue-without-damaging-paint/ Hiya,

Last week my rear windshield got damaged but it took 3 days to get Autoglass to come and sort it (it was through insurance). Meanwhile I taped a plastic sheet over it to prevent it from flooding with rain - we have quite a heavy rainfall last Friday. I had used masking tape hoping since it is supposed to come off the walls and wood paintwork, this would be ok.

But it has not come off cleanly, lots of bits of tape and glue left on the paintwork. How can i get it off without damaging the paintwork?

Cheers

Filthy to clesnhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/212080-filthy-to-clesn/ I use turtle wax products when cleaning. Started with a Snow Foam wash. Allowed to fo it thing for a few mins. Then tinsed it off and used a moderate strong wash to disolve salt and started from top to bottom. I also started working on alloys. I used an alloy cleaner that dissolve the dust. Used detailing brush nylon brush and wheel brush to help get the wheels clean.

I used a sponge to get the 1st wash off then used a wash mit and a ceramic wash and wax as my main wash. Top to bottom. I rinsed the wash mit off on a bucket of water with a grit guard.

Once the car got coated i wiped the wheels down and apply a spary wet wax and dry the car. 20230130_122049.thumb.jpg.970c48b619966f5c17fe18ebecf8c729.jpg20230130_131242.thumb.jpg.3921a51dae5b6b76374f05a5a5ad8de4.jpg

New car paint protectionhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/203936-new-car-paint-protection/ Picking up a new Toyota next week and expect the sales pitch for paint protection. Having an ex who was in the trade I know the rip off mark up so looking for recommendations for DIY products. I normally use Autoglym products (save for the excellent Dragons breath wheel cleaner).

Tried this AD Waxhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/208904-tried-this-ad-wax/ Tried this Autobrite Direct Carnauba wet wax.  It’s got the strongest banana smell and comes off easy if you don’t let it dry too much.  Nice results.  Got mine off the AD Store on Amazon.

Equipment for washing car, pre wash in particular.https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/206897-equipment-for-washing-car-pre-wash-in-particular/ I’ve never bothered with a prewash in the past, I’ve just gone straight to a shampoo wash. However with my new car currently being built and being what I chose rather than what was available at my dealer at the time I plan to spend a bit more time keeping it clean, so with that in mind I’m looking at applying a foam prewash each time. To be able to do that, I’ve got to purchase the necessary equipment.

Unfortunately due to the configuration of my bungalow the only place I can have my car to clean it is on the opposite side of the road, which means dragging the hose across the road. Whilst this is ok to create a foam in an ideal world I’ll need a pressure washer resulting in having to drag a power cable across the road as well, which isn’t very good. As it is if a vehicle needs to go down my road I have to pull the hose out of the way, but with a pressure washer I’d have to do the same with the cable. Not very convenient. As I see it I’ve 4 options:

1. Get a normal pressure washer and pull it back across the road as needed.

2. Get a cordless pressure washer..

3. Get a foam gun that just attaches to your hosepipe.

4. Get a hand pump sprayer designed for foams.

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are. I don’t want to spend a fortune, but I also don’t want to buy something that won’t do the job either. Options 3 and 4 are obviously the cheapest, however I’m not sure how successful they’d be.  I’m leaning towards option 2 as it can be used for other jobs as well. Any recommendations for which one?

Your thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Clearcoat acting weirdhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/180820-clearcoat-acting-weird/ I washed and waxed my car ready for the cold weather 3 days ago 2 days after a couple of areas went milky and patchy tried washing and compounding it out with no joy the paints silky smooth so it's like it's underneath the clear. The next day it disappeared again in the morning it wasn't there but later on in the day it had come back. Any ideas. Seems weather related or temp related. Isn't peeling and looks smooth. Just my car changes Lije a chameleon it's not as severe this morning but it comes and goes but seems to not completely go.

First photos of what it looks like it'd in same place both sides nd a little on front bumper too the second is it when it had disappeared but now it's come back just not as severe as the first time.
