Tazz 1300 2eKey turns freely in ignition barrel

Hi!

I need help please. The key turns freely in the ignition, the dash lights remains on. Car needs to be push start. To switch off i let out the clutch while in gear then disconnect Battery. Also, for a while now, the temp and fuel gauges stay in the maximum position. Thanks in advance

Not familar with the Tazz 1300 2e, but looking on google the vehicle looks very similar to the old Corolla, from around 2000.

Think you will need to give more detailed information/description but my thoughts would be along the lines of a faulty ignition switch and from what your describing would suggest it's beyond repair and needs replacing. Not sure how the switch might cause such readings on the those gauges though. Is it possible the wiring loom as been damaged/chaffed causing stray voltages?

Thanks Derek for your time and effort. Your suggestion match with my assumption so  I am dealing with the replacement today. The gauges are another issue which i thought of just mentioning
