New 12V battery wanted (not maintenance free)

Hi,

I have a 2016 Prius which is still on the original Battery (Yuasa 345LN1-MF). This has caps to allow water to be added as needed, which I don't have a problem doing. However this model is not on sale new (I can only find used ones removed from a Toyota or Lexus).

I've looked on the web for a replacement, the size/terminals are UK 012 which is fairly common, however all the batteries I've found are maintenance free eg this one from Halfords:

https://www.halfords.com/motoring/batteries/car-batteries/yuasa-hsb012-silver-12v-car-battery-5-year-guarantee-160815.html

Does anyone know of any batteries UK type 012 (and about 50Ah) which allow topping up please?

Regards,

John

Hi John all modern batterys that you find are maintance free it called progress.

If the termanals are the right way round your Ah is the same or more and it can fit in the Battery tray then look ot the clamping arrangment before deciding it will fit.

Thanks,

My previous Prius (2009) had a maintenance free (sealed) Battery, AGM type branded Toyota (made by Yuasa). So not sure why Toyota went backwards in terms of progress by fitting in 2016 batteries that could be topped up. There seem to be very few new car batteries of this type in 2024, so maintenace free seems to be easier option which is fine.

I found the same Yuasa 012 Battery that Halfords offer on sale cheaper here including postage:

Regards,

John
