Deeper steering wheel for Rav4https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/221585-deeper-steering-wheel-for-rav4/ I'm looking for options to bring the steering wheel of my Rav4 a bit closer to me. I'm 6'8" tall so well outside the design range for the car I imagine. Steering wheel spacers seem pretty expensive by the time I ship them here to New Zealand and get them installed and certified.

Is there a steering wheel from another model that is deeper and would essentially plug and play? I've read that the a lot of the steering wheels will fit physically but can't find any dimensions anywhere to know what to look for. Thought I'd ask here before I start wandering round car yards with a tape measure.

Cheers,

Chris

Celica Fuel Filler Neckhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/219654-celica-fuel-filler-neck/ Hi All

My fuel filler neck has rusted at the bend in the filler neck 😞

I've been looking around to replace it, for the celica its £100... ouch

But the more i've looked around it seems that every 90s toyota filler neck looks the exact same - corolla, rav 4

granted i dont have the measurements, but just looking at the bends in the breather pipes, they're the exact same?

Any one have thoughts or know if these are compatible?

New 12V battery wanted (not maintenance free)https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220845-new-12v-battery-wanted-not-maintenance-free/ Hi,

I have a 2016 Prius which is still on the original Battery (Yuasa 345LN1-MF). This has caps to allow water to be added as needed, which I don't have a problem doing. However this model is not on sale new (I can only find used ones removed from a Toyota or Lexus).

I've looked on the web for a replacement, the size/terminals are UK 012 which is fairly common, however all the batteries I've found are maintenance free eg this one from Halfords:

https://www.halfords.com/motoring/batteries/car-batteries/yuasa-hsb012-silver-12v-car-battery-5-year-guarantee-160815.html

Does anyone know of any batteries UK type 012 (and about 50Ah) which allow topping up please?

Regards,

John

Toyota Yaris Smart Connect DCM locationhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220254-toyota-yaris-smart-connect-dcm-location/ Does anybody have a clue where the DCM (see figure 3 on this page) is usually installed on Yaris 2023 Hybrid with Toyota Smart Connect multimedia systems?

I'm attempting to upgrade my old Touch 2 & Go screen along with DCM and while I found the old DCM (86740-0D031) behind the climate control, I haven't been able to figure out the location where the new DCM (86740-YP010) should be mounted.

Service Manualshttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220233-service-manuals/ Afternoon all,

Wondering if anyone here can help enlighten me as to the ins and outs of Toyota's service manuals and their distribution to DIYers and the general public.

My background is that I'm a DIYer and have been working on my cars for several years now. I am fortunate enough that my Yaris is old enough that Toyota made physical paper service manuals for it back in the day, and I've spent several years scouring eBay to get the majority of the ones applicable to my car. My sister drives a 2010 C1 and being a rebadged Toyota I managed to find the full GSIC library (offline web based service manual) being sold in CD format on eBay. My current partner is leaning towards buying a mk2 Yaris and that's lead to me trying to find service information once again.

I know that Toyota offer service manual access via their Toyota-Tech.eu website at an extortionate subscription price, which given the odd frequency that I need to access it doesn't make it worth the 4 euros it costs to access per hour worth it over the long run. I remember years ago there used to be an option to purchase 'hard copies' of the manuals either in cd or book format via the site and this is confirmed in the FAQ section where it details exactly this. However, this option now seems to be missing. Whenever I've asked a dealer in person whether paper copies are available I've been brushed off with "Oh I don't think you can get those".

I understand that with dealers now accessing repair information online that there is next to 0 market for books and that's fine but it would be nice to have the option to outright buy an electronic copy applicable for your car rather than have to jump around 10 different disjointed online PDFs from questionable sources.

I'm hoping someone here can enlighten me, maybe Toyota do still make these and I've just been asking the wrong people

Cheers all

Sam

Avensis keyless door handle replacement/repairhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/219651-avensis-keyless-door-handle-replacementrepair/ Hi all,

I have a 2009 Avensis (T27) with the keyless entry system. Recently my unlocking sensor in the drivers side door handle stopped working. The locking button/sensor still works fine. The passenger side also still works fine. I got it checked at the Toyota garage and they said they'll have to replace the door handle, which is about 500 euro excluding tax.

I think that's just too much so I went online to find a 2nd hand door handle with the keyless sensor. I can find a replacement door handle for about 40e including shipping, which is great. However, I cannot find one in the right color.

I see 2 possible solutions;

1: grind the new handle and spray it in the right color.
2: disassemble the new handle. Use the inner hardware of the new handle and install it in the old handle.

I don't have good experiences with grinding and spraying parts, so I tend to go for option 2. However, getting off the handle requires to remove the inned door covers, so it takes some work. So I have to disassemle half the door to be able to examine the door handle up close to see if it can be disassembled.

Does anyone have experience with these handles? I think the Prius (and maybe other models too) have the same handles. Or any other advise?

Engine management light onhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/192922-engine-management-light-on/ Hi guys n gals. I need some help and advice.

I have got a 2013 diesel yaris with 49k on the clock I bought it 4 months ago, the guy before had it from new and kept it serviced but hardly ever used the car. I have done approx 8k miles since buying which includes some lengthy runs

About 2 weeks ago my dpf light came on a day later it went out, at that point I didnt know what it was. Then my engine management light came on and has remained on since.

I have got a obd car reader and got code p2463 which relates to the dpf. And is the only code

I tried to do a long run (120 miles) I kept the revs at approx 3.5k hoping a regen would occur - I don't think it happened.

I have tried clearing the code the engine management light goes out. The dpf light comes straight on then 1 second later the engine management light on.

I have taken the car to a Halfords autocentre and got a dpf flush (£85) and full service done (£200). Picked up the car.. engine man light still on.

Tried clearing code - same issue... Halfords says I have to take car on long run... I done this no change... I appear to have gained a lot of the lost power but there is definitely still something not working properly. It almost feels like no turbo.

I have tried disconnecting the Battery (negative port only) and reconnected after 30 mins.

Before the service it was only the engine management light on... since then when I start up the car the dpf light stays on for 5 seconds before going out and leaving just engine management light on.

I really don't know what else I can do or try... I've been told I cant have a forced regen because of the engine man light.

I have next to zero mechanical expertise, and my friends have limited... so any estimates on repair costs and garages worth using in the bristol based areas would also be appreciated, I hope I have posted in the right area and given all info you require... thanks in advance

Looking for plastic frame for the left mirror 87940-02L40https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/217636-looking-for-plastic-frame-for-the-left-mirror-87940-02l40/ Hi all.

Today, I broke the left mirror frame on my 2019 Corolla hybrid (note to self: take the "check surroundings" instruction on the screen seriously, especially when moving backward, particularly around concrete pillars). Please take a look at the attached photos to see the exact damage.

I inquired at a local shop and was informed that the frame I need is the 87940-02L40, priced at €500. However, I checked here and it seems that 87940-02L40 is more than just a frame—it seems to be almost an entire mirror assembly.

Any chance I can purchase only the plastic frame online? Thankfully, everything else in the mirror is undamaged.

Thank you!

Yaris 2000 1.0 1SZ-FE P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Errorhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/216375-yaris-2000-10-1sz-fe-p0340-camshaft-position-sensor-error/ Hello everyone,

I have inherited a 2000 1.0 (0.998) 1SZ-FE 50kW version made in Japan

Due to this being inherited, having both servo and A/C and me using it for courier work i have decided to fix it rather than get rid of it and get a new one when i started having issues and suspecting faulty timing chain (which turned out to be skipped several teeth on the gear).
I have since replaced the timing chain along with the rest of the timing things that were included in aftermarket set = timing chain, guides etc. .. everything except the big VVTI regulator
After i did that the car is drivable again however it started throwing an engine check light with P0340 and P1656 Errors for Camshaft position sensor circuit and oil control valve circuit errors.
Tried replacing both the camshaft sensor and the OCV, after we replaced the camshaft sensor one of the errors disappeared however it was actually the OCV one \o/
Replaced the OCV as well just in case but it didnt help either.
Do you think it is possible that the crankshaft sensor which should actually be  the same part number as the camshaft sensor just in a different part of the engine could be the issue ? Throwing faulty signal that when compared by the ECU between actually valid camshaft sensor signal and faulty crankshaft one the ECU decided was faulty from the wrong sensor ?
Or do you think its more likely that its actually the wiring of the camshaft sensor that has become faulty/damaged ? Though we couldnt see any physical damage to it and it doesnt really make sense seeing as the camshaft sensor and its wiring are on the opposite side of the engine than the timing chain ?

Or if you have any other ideas/experience with this error code and how to fix it would be welcome as well thanks.

Key Won't Turn in Ignition (Aygo)https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/216097-key-wont-turn-in-ignition-aygo/ Evening all,

I've been having a problem with my ignition barrel for some time - you put the key in the ignition and you can't turn it! But only sometimes. It's basically the same as when the steering lock is engaged and you have to wiggle the wheel a bit to get the key to turn, except in this case the steering lock isn't engaged and wiggling the wheel will engage it..

One sure way to replicate this every time is to put the key in the ignition, don't turn it at all and pull it out again - there you go I've jammed it and the next time I insert the key there's no hope of turning it.

The only way of 'turning' the key once this happens is by removing and reinserting the key anywhere between 20 and what feels like an infinite amount of times until you can very stiffly SLAM it into 'ACC' and go from there.

The car is a 2015 Toyota Aygo with 52,000 miles. What's happened and is it going to bankrupt me?
