Profile syncing issues

@philip42h Sorry to say that my brand new 2023 Hybrid Corolla has exactly the same problem so it looks like they still haven't fixed it and probably never will.

Given that a large message popping up at random intervals is highly distracting this is a serious safety issue so I'm surprised Toyota have yet to address it and don't even bother to mention it on their help website.

I suppose personal profiles are a bit of a gimmick and having to stick to guest mode and live without it won't be that much of a hardship if it means my view of the sat nav map won't suddenly get blocked every time I get to a critical junction.

This is my exact problem. The software bug causes an important safety issue!

Toyota seems to be in stealth mode – no response whatsoever! Can you believe it?

Do you think we can report this to the authorities?

I've solved it! I don't really know how though. I inputted the password (same one, again) on the touchscreen and then it said if wanted to connect with the app via the QR code. I'm already connected with the app and the QR never worked during the initial (painful) connection when I bought the car, but out of boredom more than anything else I clicked on the app, and there was a message asking me if I wanted to connect with the car (wish I'd screenshotted the exact message).

Anyway, I said yes and I got taken to a new screen on the app I hadn't seen before, asking me to verify the mileage on the car and bingo I was in and... NO MORE POP UPS!!!.

Downside is that my wife got kicked out of HER app connection (shrug emoji), but sorry darling, this is a MAJOR win. Victory! For now anyway

I have the exact same problem as you do, but when I try to input my password, I can't, because I'm unable to input any capital letters from my password (caps is greyed out)on the input screen) so I'm at a complete loss.  The MyToyota app works perfectly though, so it seems to recognise the car, so why the "profile cannot be synced" message pops up, goodness knows.

You have to use the My Toyota password and the car to be connected to the internet.

That would be great, but my screen for some odd reason won't allow me to input any capital letters from my password!  The caps key is greyed out.

Welcome to the Toyota clunky software club. My three week old  Excel 2l Hybrid has had this problem  problem from the off and the dealer stated that all his new staff cars have similar issues 🙄and so far it remains an issue. The car was returned to the  dealer after a week because of a plethora of software issues and these remain unfixed. My display screen keeps coming back with synchronise messages every time I use the car and repeatedly knocks out Wayze, Apple music etc.

I have not come to the best bit and that is when my wife becomes a passenger the Excel starts to play her Apple music randomly and I have to monkey around with my iPhone and settings on the display screen to get things to work , both  Iphones are recognised by the car system but  refuse to connect or sync when present  in the car I assume this is some sort of bluetooth contest who knows. My Excel is going back to the dealer on the 15th of this month with an ultimatum which  is fix it or I am walking away.

Happened again. World's most annoying pop-up has reappeared and it happened right after I used the remote pre-heat function on the app. Co-incidence? Would a major fail if the thing that made the infotainment system unsync the app profile was USING THE DAMN APP. Come on Toyota, I know you're all terribly good engineers, but please send some of your staff to software school.

Been discussed in the BZ4x thread and also in MyToyota new app and here

May help but may be a bug in the software

It happens every time if I start the climate using the app and interrupt it before the 10 minute cycle.

If I wait for the Climate to finish it doesn't happen.

Now, if I'm going to get in the car early, before the climate cycle is completed, I use the app to Stop it before getting in the car. Then I remain logged in.

Aha. Thank you both. Will try to remember to wait for the full 10 mins, but rarely give myself enough time to warm the car!

My troubles with annoying frequent  Infotaiment pop ups were considerably mitigated after I visited my local Toyota dealer who claimed that the vehicle had not been configured on handover in my last dealership. I must admit the repeats have vanished but I still get the odd request asking me to sync the vehicle on start up but that is now rare.

4 months of new car ownership and 'Profile Sync and re-enter your password' pop ups started a week ago. Prior to this I witnessed a couple of update error windows coming up.

Re-entered the password and opened the 'My Toyota' app on my phone and ticked a few boxes (one hidden) to approve I think it was the latest privacy/software approval notices. Very similar to the map updates download for my previous Corolla via the My Toyota web/internet site where you had to find the hidden tick boxes to enable the download to USB.

No pop ups for a week and counting since the above.

If, by mistake, I forgot to turn on bluetooth before starting up, I can't seem to link to my User account by pressing it within the settings and "Primary Profile". I either have to shut the car down, turn on Bluetooh and power back on OR login with Email address and code for mytoyota. Surely, there must be an easier way?

BTW: if anyone can get me the digital vers. of the infotainment manual, I'd be happy. The download doesn't seem to work off the Toyota site.

MY23

Thanks,

MY23 Corolla TS - Pops up back and message of profile not syncing. I did change a main dashboard dial setting but the settings have held locally. Made two journeys today and had about 3 pop ups on each journey.

One to mention on the 'next service' wheeler dealer visit.

Fruitand  Nut 56  regretfully no. I got the dealer to fix the problem however i still get a pop ups but only at the start and the repeats during your journey  have gone.  I did notice that if i used face recognition to fire up MTA  and the got into the car the pop up does not appear  from the welcome message and your mobile phone  app you orginally used by default such as music or nav begins to become active.

I’ve had this Corolla 8 months and for the last week the can’t sync comes up every 5 mins, I’d say it’s down to poor software developers, this issue and others keep occurring, very annoying

Dear Forumers,

I've seen on my CH-R when the Mobile profile fails to synch with Toyota's computer, that Mobile Carplay synchs, as I can use its apps but, profile is not recognized and shows a recurrent and very annoying message on top of the Navigator, which I've to be cancelling to be able to continue watching the Navigator.

The unique solution I've found is to be sure that all mobile paired and connected devices are disconnected and then turn off-on the car. I'm now wondering (as the CarPlay gets connected), what can be the reason to reject the profile synchronization?

Thxs in advance

Yup! Same here. Had my Touring Sport since last Sept.  Software buggy for a while after purchase, then it settled down.  Then a couple of weeks ago, the pop-up message started again!  I seem to be already logged in, because I get a welcome when I start the ignition telling me that I'm recognised, etc.,and the MyToyota app has all the trip info up to date, so there's no problem there.

However, rather than cancelling the pop-up every 5 minutes as I drive along, I left it until I could deal with it.  I couldn't input my password because I'm unable to input capital letters! It's greyed out.  I did manage to access the QR code, which was recognised immediately, but to no avail.  The pop-up still reappears.  I'm stumped.  I have serious doubts as to the dealer's ability to fix it, but hey-ho.  If anyone out there has a solution, please let me know!

Hi Michel,

Many others on the forum have the same problem with "profile not recognized" popping up every 5 minutes (including me!)  The unique solution you mention sounds like it's something I should try, since 3 mobiles are paired to my car.  I thought the car key was supposed to enable profile recognition, but maybe I'm mistaken.

The upper case greyed out issue appears to be a sensitivity thing. Sometimes I can get it to switch first time sometimes it takes several goes. The good news is that if you enter your password and log in, it loads your profile and the annoying messages stop. Of course, you could always change your password so that it has no uppercase characters in it!

I had the same profile sync error, and it used to happen on a long drive when I was using maps, which was annoying... I read on another thread here, that when starting the car, wait until the main screen is ready before putting the car into gear.

since doing that I don't see that error as often, maybe once every two months or so now.

Has this started happening again for anyone? Mine has started whining about not being able to sync the profile again.

I hope if they ever do an update they will make the notification not so disruptive so it takes over the whole display so you have to cancel it to get rid of it.
