Bought a Space Cruiser recently and looking for a clutch kit for it, not easy to find now, it seems!!

Any good leads or info on where to buy such a thing would be appreciated.

I've heard lots of info from different sources, like: The clutch is the same as the petrol Hilux 1.8 (also not available) and it's the same as a 2.4 diesel Hilux?? Unlikely I would think. Never had this much problem just finding a clutch before....... HELP!

Thanks in advance, Steve

Jerks at low revshttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/202803-jerks-at-low-revs/

Good afternoon, I have a problem with my Toyota Corolla 4E-FE engine, from the year 1997, 5-speed manual
transmission.
1. I start the car cold in the morning, without waiting 1 second (since I usually leave in just enough time, as if waiting for the car to warm up), I start driving and when accelerating or decelerating the car gives gross jerks.
Once the car warms up, the jerks seem to disappear, but no,they reappear at a rev regime always below 2,000 revolutions, if you even release the accelerator around 2,000 revolutions (maybe 2,200 revolutions) and verified that the car when it reaches just 2,000 revolutions, gives a ***** and continues to decrease in revolutions.

2. Driving while the car is hot, if you keep the car close to 2,000 revolutions (I think between 1,800 and 2,200 revolutions), it is especially noticeable in low gears 1st, 2nd and 3rd, the car jerks. Curiously, once the car passes 2,200 revolutions, it goes fine whatever the gear it is wearing. As if for example in 2º I rev it to 3,000 revolutions, and I let go of the accelerator suddenly, the
car slows me down well without problems.

3. At this point, tired of going crazy, going to mechanics and others, I decided on my own to buy 2 new coils (my 4E-FE engine has a coil for 2 spark plugs and another coil for another 2 spark plugs) and also buy the 4 new spark plugs that the original DENSO car has. The cables DO NOT buy them since they were "new", they had recently been put in place.

Well, after changing all that, the car remains THE SAME as before, that is, I spent the money "for nothing" or lookingat it from a good point of view, to rule out that this is NOT what the car has bad. I cleaned everything I could see with clean contacts, the
intake is clean, the spark plugs are new, the air filter is clean, new coils, new spark plug wires, good fluids, gasoline filter (maybe I will change it these days, since I have changed it for a long time, I do not remember how many kilometers), in general the car has its maintenance. I blame something dirty, some adjustment of something or I don't know ...

Please see if someone gives me a hand to solve this dilemma, because the car already has 455,000 km, almost 24 years and in general the car is new, I have a hard time removing it and buying a new or second-hand one, since the car walks and does not leave me lying down, but that failure has me crazy in the head already ...

I hope answers as soon as possible.

Thank you very much, greetings .....

Old Hiace (rh32) Camper - Ongoing Problems.https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/81843-old-hiace-rh32-camper-ongoing-problems/A few weeks ago I bought a campervan - since then something has gone wrong pretty much everytime I have driven it anywhere - and I've only left the confines of my home town once.

It's a 1981 Toyota Hi-ace van (RH32), with a 18R 1968 cc engine. Manual choke and 4 speed gearbox.

The normal symptoms seem to be a loss of power, then the engine stalls. On restarting the engine it fires, but cuts out after a few seconds. If i'm feeling lucky it idles OK but cuts out once I put it in gear.

I've had Green Flag breakdown come and pick me up twice now, and it's confused them both times (same bloke - how embarrasing). By the time they get to me everything seems fine. Engine starts and I can drive off without any trouble.

After the first problem, I took it for a complete service and oil change etc. Garage man said it was fine (apart from all the welding that needs doing before next MOT).

After second breakdown I took it to the same garage (on the back of a towtruck for dramatic effect) and garage man changed the spark plugs and HT leads.

So by now I think it must be sorted. Except on Saturday after about 15 miles, I had exactly the same problem (although this time it was preceeded by two loud bangs from near the airfilter). It could not have happened in a more inconvenient place (Green Rd round-about for anyone who knows Oxford).

So this time, I'm clever, and don't phone for Green Flag. I just wait.

About 20mins later, with a big gap in traffic, I drive off like nothing happened. Went home the quickest way, but felt like something was still 'up' as the engine stalled whenever the revs dropped (even with the cluth in).

So? I appeal to your collective wisdom. What's wrong? I'm thinking that there's an overheating problem somewhere. But how do I track it down when the problem is so intermittent?

I haven't taken the head off yet, but am wondering whether there may be coolant corrosion in the aluminium head. Are they prone to this? If so what is the usual repair, other than a replacement head?

12R Valve Adjustment and a few other bits.https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/218615-12r-valve-adjustment-and-a-few-other-bits/ Hi All,

The Hiace is coming together! Carb refurbished, electronic ignition in the post, cooling system fully refurbed and a few other bits.

Next up is to refurb the vacuum advance mechanism which is not functioning properly, refurb and line the fuel tank, recore rad (piece of mind..) and fit out the camper bits in the back.

My questions, if anyone can assist are as follows.

  1. Idle mixture adjustment screw not working and van not idling on pilot jet. I've stripped the carb and have confirmation pilot jet, air horn etc are all clean and open. When I back off idle adjustment screw (on accel linkage) the revs drop and she cuts out. When I wind it in to get a decent idle, the van hunts up and down on the RPM's and wont settle.
Any recommendations? I have a intake manifold gasket in the post and will delete the crankcase breather to rule out any vacuum leaks on manifold that would be diluting the pilot jet supply. Bad fuel? Tank not the cleanest.
  2. Valve adjustment. The book for 12R states one must adjust valves while running.... I'm assuming this is a translation issue from japanese to english? Do i just run her up hot and then make the adjustments? Bit mad!
  3. Water temp gauge not working. New sender fitted and still no movement. Any idea where to access this?
  4. VSV solenoid between the Carb vacuum hose and Vacuum advance mechanism. When i got the van, this was disconnected. Any idea what the hell it is? Why would one switch vacuum advance? Part number leads me nowhere.image.thumb.png.99ba5dd6abb3b279f4c57cf91eb7eaef.png

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Much love, BRENT_EAGLE

RT100 Corona Sedan Two-Door?https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/176256-rt100-corona-sedan-two-door/ I'm working on a project to illustrate every Toyota ever sold in the US.  Every model, every generation and even every body variant.  261 in total.  Well, I thought 261.

Just stumbled over the RT104/RT105 Corona two-door sedan.  I had no idea this existed, but Wikipedia claims that this sold well in the US.  Every brochure from 1974-1978 shows it, although it's definitely shown second to the hardtop coupe in almost every year.

Here's the funny thing.  I can't find ONE PHOTO on Google Images of one of these, outside of the brochure.  Was this two-door sedan ACTUALLY sold in the US?  Does anyone know?

Better yet, anyone know a current owner?

Thanks!

Spotted 1983 Toyota Starlethttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/209197-spotted-1983-toyota-starlet/ Just spotted a 1983 Toyota Starlet being driven very slowly by old lady through the centre of Hereford.  The car looked in remarkable condition, probably driven for local shopping trips.

I failed to get the reg number other than it was the old Y reg, which dates it at 1982-83.  These are certainly a extremely rare site on UK roads, in fact can't remember the last time I saw one.

12R / R Series engine firing Order. HELP NEEDED!https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/216937-12r-r-series-engine-firing-order-help-needed/ Hello all!

First time poster long time peruser.

I have recently acquired a 1981 Hiace RH20 minubus/camper conversion with the 12R 1600cc petrol.

I've gone through the engine doing the usual bits, filters, thermostat, water pump, hoses, gaskets, points, coil, plugs and leads.

In my hubris, I completely removed the HT leads and distributor without marking my distributor orientation or firing order (Idiot i know).

I have since refurbed the distributor, replaced the cap, points and leads alas I just can't get the thing to run.

I have timed the rotor arm point 1/cyl1 @ 8'btdc on starter motor turnover with the strobe which i feels a good starting point.

Now here's the real head scratcher. Firing order.

The 12R Manual has the firing order at the usual 1-3-4-2. No Joy.
A small paragraph in the manual "10-12 Ignition Timing" also states the firing order as 1-2-4-3... It ran on 3 cyl on this order.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated!!

Kind Regards,
BRENT_EAGLE
