Converting new HiAce van to AWDhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/218507-converting-new-hiace-van-to-awd/ Hi Guys,

Currently run a 2008 AWD HiAce for my tradie van and looking to up grade. Toyota don't make the new model in AWD so wondering if it is possible to convert the new series HiAce into AWD. I believe the existing AWD vans run prado running gear  so would it be possible to do the same with the newer version ?

Puzzled to find Toyota 4x4 model in the 90shttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/218664-puzzled-to-find-toyota-4x4-model-in-the-90s/ Hi there 👋

I am so puzzled to find a particular Toyota model I believe was made either on the 90s or early 2000s.

I used to drive this car when I was serving the Greek army as military vehicle instructor. I had never seen it before commercially and I can't remember the name of the model.

It was 4x4 and reminded me of the 90s land cruiser however it was not land cruiser. It had the toyota logo instead of toyota letter at the front grille.

I have tried old toyota catalogues but none of the names ring a bell.

Any help would appreciated.

Toyota Hiace AWDhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/218252-toyota-hiace-awd/ Hey guys, just wondering if anyone with a JDM Hiace (mine is a 2012 model) has needed to replace a headlamp. My headlights/highbeams are adjustable in height via a switch on the dash, wondering if this provision is within the headlamp itself or within the loom/globe connector?

Also does anyone know of any body shops in Melbourne working with import cars?

Thanks in advance

FJ Cruiser Dog Guardhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/212823-fj-cruiser-dog-guard/ Hello,

I'm after a dog guard for my FJ Cruiser, this is an import and they do not appear to be available from the normal UK suppliers. Can anyone recommend a decent universal unit or some other clever ideas?

Many Thanks

4WD Problemshttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/210902-4wd-problems/ I have a 2003 Tacoma DLX, 3.4, auto, the 4WD won't engage, no light, nothing. The fuse and connections are good. Does anyone know if the 4WD Control located above the glove box could be the problem or is the module just for the RR Diff Lock?

S1 gear issuehttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/207138-s1-gear-issue/ Hi all...Once again I am asking for your knowledge and assistance in order to avoid the dreaded dealer. Great people and great forum.  I just reviewed the forum and could not find an answer to the following:  I have a 2017 Tacoma Access Cab TRD 4x4 Off Road.  I have recently noticed that I cannot shift into S1 above 20MPH but can below 20MPH.  If I try to shift into S! before 20MPH I hear a "Beep Beep sound" which is perhaps a warning sound associated with the transmission not allowing the shift into S1 below 20MPH.

1.  Can someone verify for me whether this is what you are experiencing if you have a 2017 Tacoma.

2.   Is the Beep Beep sound I hear before I can shift into S! a notice type of thing since I can sheft into S! below 20MPH.

3.  Is the situation I described above normal for my transmission and that I do not have a transmission problem but is normal for my transmission?

Thanks for your knowledge and facts in advance.

1996 Sprinter Carib - Compass Setup?https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/93908-1996-sprinter-carib-compass-setup/Evening all,

Recently moved out to NZ from the UK and acquired an imported Japanese 1996 Toyota Sprinter Carib Z-Touring 4WD (1.8 engine, auto). It's basically a Corolla in a push-up bra, and goes pretty nicely. Unfortunately, I have no manual, and even if I did, it would be in Japanese.

One thing that is stumping me is the dashboard compass - this is an LCD affair, labelled "Field Monitor", which gives you the temperature, a compass, and a pretty poor guess at the what the weather is doing.

The compass is about 60 degrees out, and I can't work out how to calibrate it. Next to the Field Monitor is a button saying "Compass Adjust" - if you press this once, the display starts to flash, press it again and it stops flashing. It doesn't seem to behave any differently while flashing (still changes as the car turns), and I can't see that any of the other buttons or dials in the car affect it at all.

Does anyone know how to set this compass, or failing that, how the compasses are set up in Toyotas of the same era?

Cheers,

Alex

Click and engine revshttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/205687-click-and-engine-revs/ Hi all...I am new to this forum and am happy to be here.  I have a 2017 Tacoma access cab TRD Off Road 4x4.  I would appreciate your comments on the following:   When I turn the wheel left or right, with the hood open and the engine running, I hear this click and the engine revs.   Perhaps its normal or possibly associated with a power steering pump or relay that is activated when I turn the wheel.  What do you all think could be or not be the problem.  The forum has more expertise than I do.

Awaiting your response and thanks in advance.

Fortuner 2.7https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/204744-fortuner-27/ Hello from France. Wondering if anyone can help. I am trying to import my Fortuner into France from Dubai. It was manufactured in Indonesia so doesn’t comply with EU Regulations. It is possible to import, however the French authorities require a lot of information eg. maximum axle weights etc. which (surprisingly) aren’t published in the owner’s manual. I’ll attach a photo of the manufacturers plate. I have tried “Toyota Indonesia” but keep getting shifted from pillar to post…….pffft! Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Townace diesel transmission problemshttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/204151-townace-diesel-transmission-problems/ I have 1990 diesel townace. Just recently reverse gear is delayed into engaging, and when it does there is a clunk sound on drive line. Also it does seem it wants to shift regularly into the higher overdrive gears.  And when it does it wont stay there for very long, wants to shift back down causing the rpm to shoot right up. Any ideas on fixing the problem

VSC TRAC/VSC off/ABS/brake lights all on after Ida stormhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/201630-vsc-tracvsc-offabsbrake-lights-all-on-after-ida-storm/ Can anyone explain why all of these lights came on after the recent IDA storm?  I went to check on my truck and notices all the windows were fogged, upon opening the door noticed water on the floor of vehicle.  The car started but these lights came on, any idea why and if they will eventually go off.  I would hate to spend more more money on this truck!  Just replaced the Alternator, brakes, rotors and caliber last week!

4.2 1HD-FTE plastic engine cover removal issuehttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/198784-42-1hd-fte-plastic-engine-cover-removal-issue/ I have removed the 4 holding bolts but the cover wont come off. It's probably never been taken off in it's life so that's 20+yrs now.

I have disconnected the few rubber hoses but they weren't actually holding it down.

I can feel a foam like material underneath around the edges. Could this be semi melted to the engine top and so holding it down?

Any suggestions well received. I don't want to force it.

Sunroof on LC200 isn't workinghttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/197891-sunroof-on-lc200-isnt-working/ Hey everyone, I am a new member on this site and it has been really helpful with a loads of stuff.

Recently I have been facing some issues with the sunroof/moonroof on my LC200, (Model Year 2011)
I had been facing an issue with the wind noise and couldn't figure out what it was so i decided to clean the sunroof as it had a lot of sand and dirt built up  assuming that maybe the sunroof wasn't closing properly.

However after cleaning it the sunroof/moonroof is not working(I applied WD40 on the sliders and used a cloth to clean up the dirt collected), it is tilting up and down alright, however it does not slide back and forth.

It tries to slide but gets stuck, you can hear the motor trying to move but it just doesn't seem to work

Any ideas on how I can fix this??

Dyna van 2wd conversion to 4wd ?https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/195284-dyna-van-2wd-conversion-to-4wd/ In New Zealand we have a diesel Toyota Dyna 200 route van 1994 that we want to tow and launch a 3 ton boat with. It is 2 wheel drive and want to 1) convert the present diesel engine 2700 cc to 3660cc engine.  2) convert it to 4WD for traction when launching etc. Our vehicle is chassis BU 70-0012176. Engine number b358 532. Industry model code U-BU70VH.  Our possible donor vehicle is Toyota Dyna 1990 diesel 3660cc 4WD. Chassis BU74-0000238. Engine number unknown. Industry model code U -BU74-MDDT.   Would Anyone be able to tell us whether these engines (and possibly gearboxes if needed) would transplant? And whether our 2WD chassis would be compatable to accept the donar 1990 4WD transmission and sump diff gear?

The amber lights are also awesome and work great when rolling in a dust cloud at night!

Toyota Hiace 1994 campervanhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/194927-toyota-hiace-1994-campervan/ Trying to locate a 2779cc deisel engine for my 1994 Toyota Hiace campervan. Would appreciate any thoughts or ideas that would help apart from suggesting I get another camper!! lol ...the interior of mine is all solid wood and amazing.

Someone told me to put the 1kz-TE engine which was used in Hilux's in my van ...should be easy to find and is by far the best engine of the lot.

- The Hilux 3.0 L td which came with the 2.8 td engine also, and that the swap should be a simple in and out with no drama.

Does anyone know if this is correct and whether this engine would fit the 1994 Hiace?

Cheers Paul
