I'm new to the forum. I'm starting a childminding business soon with my wife and we're looking at an 8 seater MPV to help bus the kids around.

I need it to have big enough seats for 6 baby/child seats to be fitted, ideally Isofix but maybe that's asking to much of the pre probably 2016/17 models.

I've got about a £10,000 budget.

Would love to see reasonable MPG or what do you think about LPG conversions?

Something not to bad cost wise to maintain ao Amy versions with cheaper belts to change/chain to not replace...

Petrol vs diesel?

To finish it off ideally sonethijg with a little bit of go. Dont really want a 12 second plus 0-60. Something closer to 10 would be great!

Any advice would be super helpful.

Toyota Voxy 4WD AUTO button not workinghttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/214821-toyota-voxy-4wd-auto-button-not-working/ Hello all,

Reading the owners manual book page 167 for the Toyota Voxy auto,  petrol valvematic.

Start car, ignition on, the 4WD symbol illuminates then goes off (normal).

But when pressing the AUTO button to engage the 4WD function, It appears the AUTO button is not working , no illumination on dash cluster. Checked the fuse in the main fusebox and all is ok.

User manual says pushing the button should make dash symbol appear to blink to say 4WD is on.

This 4WD AUTO button is found on many other toyotas models  (avensis, corolla , wish etc)  so the system principles must be the same.

Any ideas what it could be? TIA

Voxy 1az-fse engine lumpy idlehttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/207763-voxy-1az-fse-engine-lumpy-idle/ Evening all, the Mrs has bought an 04 Voxy to cart her and her wheelchair around in, it has the 2.0 1az fse engine and while it's a nice drive, at slow speeds it can be a little lumpy, (fine when accelerating)

Being an import its typically automatic and this fault only happens when its warm (after the cold start cycle or old fashioned choke) but whenever you pull up to a junction its as though it wants to stall, (goes down to 500ish rpm) I've done various searches and a few recommend to clean the throttle body, I've done this....no change, some recommend cleaning the idle air control valve but being fly-by-wire it hasn't got 1,

You can sometimes feel it getting lumpy/hesitating as your coasting along just feathering the throttle too

Sorry for the long winded explanation but thought the more info you have the easier to try and diagnose,

Hit me with your ideas......

Cheers Pete

Previa Oil Problemshttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/43638-previa-oil-problems/Hello, I have just found this site and registered.

I own a toyota townace myself (Wich is off the road funnily enough as they are a load of trouble) but a friend of mine who does not have Internet access has a problem with his Previa. We think we know whats wrong but not sure so we were wondering if anyone on here knows better.

There seems to be a reserve Oil chamber (In front of car under bonnet) which you fill up as well as the standard filler for oil on the engine.

We think the Switch on the bottom of the sump is faulty as the Oil light keeps flashing low oil but there is more than enough oil according to the dipstick.

What brought this to his attention was a lot of smoke and rough running and when they checked the Dipstick it was way too high so we think oil was getting in with the Pistons so the fuel mix was completely wrong.

They took some of the oil out so it was right by the dipstick and drove it up the road and once it had burnt the oil out of the pistons it ran fine.

Since then they have noticed a pumping sound comming from somewhere near the reserve oil chamber and what we think is happening is the pump in the reserve oil chamber is always on because the Oil level sender in the sump is faulty so it thinks it is empty. So if you put the right amount of oil in it, and then fill the reserve chamber it just dumps the extra (maybe 2 litres or so) into the engine and causes the oil over filling.

The oil empty light is flashing all the time but the dipstick says it is ok.

We think that if we empty the oil (As it needs a new filter and oil anyway) we could take the Sump oil level switch out (Thats what we think it is anyway but not sure) and test it with a tester.

I am hoping that we would not need to take the sump off to get the Oil level switch out. Although I can see it now, unscrewing the bolts that hold it on and hearing a little clink as the bolts on the other side drop into the sump.

Any ideas on this would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Improving ground clearance of Toyota Voxyhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/208621-improving-ground-clearance-of-toyota-voxy/ Hi,

Just bought a 2005 Voxy  2.0 4wd with in cab adjustable tein suspension, (if it makes a difference). I'm looking to improve the ground clearance with either some longer springs or a spacer, I'll do the back first then the front. Someone must have done this before as the clearance is laughable so I was just wishing to pick a brain or 2 as to what components they used.

Thanks

But.....which one........https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/208146-butwhich-one/ Hi all,

Thanks for allowing me to join. Long time Toyota owner from Norfolk.

Had HiAce, Granvia, Auris and now have a HiLux but....I live in the UK half the time and drive to Portugal for the other half, although at present, not in a Toyota but a Very nice company Skoda Superb. I'm here to glean info from the forums as I wish to purchase either a Estima or a Vellfire/Alphard to do the journey when the Skoda goes back to the lease company, which is imminent.

Really fancy a Vellfire but dont fancy having to tow a fuel tanker behind me for 1500 miles 🙂 So, let's see!

Cheers all

Estima or Alphard?https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/207897-estima-or-alphard/ I need to get a new (well, second hand) Japanese van and I'm baffled by the choice out there nowadays.

I've had an Estima before, and a Townace (best vehicle I ever owned) but what is the difference between an Estima and an Alphard or even a Noah?

Granvia Battery Question/problemhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/124941-granvia-battery-questionproblem/I have just bought a Toyota Granvia import and got a problem with the Battery. It keeps loosing charge whilst the van is not being used. I thought it was a dodgy Battery, and thankfully my son had a spare diesel Battery in his garage. We connected the battery with jump leads to see if it would help and it started the vehicle. As my sons battery seemed ok, we gave it a full charge, and then fitted it to the vehicle. When coming to start the vehicle the next morning, the battery was dead.

Have I been using 2 dud batteries, or is it more likely that something in the vehicle is draining the charge from the battery? When the vehicle is not in use, the stereo faceplate is removed, and I make sure all the lights etc are turned off. The vehicle does have an aftermarket imobiliser fitted but apart from that, the vehicle is standard. I don't want to buy a new battery if there is a simple fix that is common on these vans.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Previa head gaskethttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/204605-previa-head-gasket/ Hi there,  I have a 1994 Previa 100k miles.  unfortunately the head gasket has gone on the coolant side.  The car itself has no rust and in the past 18 months I have had the suspension brakes, bushes and Aircon replaced, so i am reluctant to walk away.  I am a less than confident DIY mechanic who has mainly worked on motorbikes , so cars - mid engine cars etc are scary.  i guess my main question is i am looking for a recommended garage to fix the head gasket - i am aware it won't be cheap.  I have tried various garages near to me at Shrewsbury and they all suck their teeth and walk away.  i don't mind getting the car transported if necessary but i want to use the right person.  i am trying to use the internet / forums etc to locate someone who does know there way around previas, but am coming up blank.  Would you be able to point me the right direction? do you know anyone who does specialise or is confident in this field? I would be grateful for any advice, cheers steve

Previa questionhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/205556-previa-question/ Hi all

We've just bought a 2002 previa 2.4 auto and as I'm going through it and discovering everything I've found a 'problem / query' . Where do I find the rear washer jet ? I've got the switch on the stalk for it , the wiper works , I've found the pipework under the bonnet and it sprays water when I activate the rear wash (different from the front ) , but I can't find a nozzle. There's no nozzle on the spoiler or by the wiper arm and there's no pipework or connections on the arm/spindle.

Can anyone help please ?

Thanks , Adam

Previa Idle Problemhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/11136-previa-idle-problem/I have a 1996 Previa 2.4 GS Auto (60k miles) which has recently started juddering at junctions with a very slow idle. It does not stall but is dangerous as there is no power as I pull away.

The power then kicks in and it drives great.

Unfortunatley I cant get at the leads / plugs to check but wondered if there is a known common problem before I let a garage rip me off ?

I believe HT leads cost around £90 !

cheers Pete

Question about an Estimahttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/201956-question-about-an-estima/ Hi ,  I do a fair bit of towing but find that the rear sags under weight so I've found after a bit of looking that the Picnic , the Ipsum and the Sienna all use the same rear springs and dampers ( same Toyota part nos. ) Anyway my question is does anyone know if air adjustable dampers or an air helper spring to fit a American Sienna would fit a UK Picnic ? the years are the same so I'm guessing there the same platform with modified body for different markets.
I'm getting fed up of dragging the towbar and exhaust on speedhumps with the caravan on.

Thanks Adam
