Best fitting engine swap for Paseohttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220283-best-fitting-engine-swap-for-paseo/ I really like the looks of Paseo and I’d really like to buy one I found one quite cheap, I’d just like to know if down the road there is an engine I can swap it to it that fits as well as possible, I’ve heard about the starlet engine but I’ve heard even that needs custom engine mounts to fit in the Paseo. Any recommendations?

Rear Disc Brakes For Paseohttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/18710-rear-disc-brakes-for-paseo/Has anyone converted their paseo to have rear disc brakes, can you just use components from the starlet GT's rear disc brake assembley, or any toyota 4x100 rear disc assembly.

Would be nice to know if anyone has any clues for the best and cheapest way to do a quality conversion.

Also TRD Spark Plugs, are they worth it? (20 quid each) me thinks not

Leaking oil cap filter (crankcase filter)https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/209569-leaking-oil-cap-filter-crankcase-filter/ Hey all, I drive a 1996 Toyota Glanza V. its done up and has the likes of a link ecu in it, a td06 turbo, 1000cc bosh injectors, the whole nineyards. after boosting around with my mate we noticed that smoke was coming out of the exhaust when under load. Pull home and we see that the crankcase filter that sits on top of the engine block was drenched in oil and had leaked oil all over the engine, upon further inspection it appears to have came loose and as such, oil has leaked through the filter, leaking everywhere.

I dont know why this has happened but I speculate that something is wrong with the pcv valve or piping. however I am not sure this is the problem and if anyone can help that would be much appreciated. cheers, christian.

for your time

Parts List And Manual For A Toyota Serahttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/110670-parts-list-and-manual-for-a-toyota-sera/Hi, Could anyone who has a Toyota Sera tell me if there is such a thing as an English parts list and manual available to download or to buy. I am currently rebuilding a Sera that I bought. There is so many parts and add on's it would be nice to be able to order parts I need by reference number. I'm a bit sick of having the eyes taken out of me on the internet for parts. When I have just found out Toyota themselves aren't that dear for new ones. I know that they are a rare car to find parts for but the prices are stupid. Thanks

4efe to 4efte ignition systemhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/213932-4efe-to-4efte-ignition-system/ Hi, with the rising price in 4eftes and them becoming rarer I couldn't help myself buying it, so instead I bought a 4efe from a toyota cynos and going to forge it and try to make 300 bhp

My starlet has a full glanza 97 loom and Greddy ultimate piggy back ecu( internal map sensor)however I do not have any engine bay sensors.

My question is how do I make the ignition system work since the dizzy, coil and leads are different from 4efe to 4efte? Can I maybe use a crank sensor and coil on plug setup?

What about intake sensors? Heard that there are some differences in that area.

Thanks in advance.

Need Help With A 4E-Fte Ep91 Engine Swaphttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/124410-need-help-with-a-4e-fte-ep91-engine-swap/Hey everyone,

I just bought a 1998 ep91(R?) starlet with a nice and tidy, fully functional and serviced 4e-fe engine already in it. My plan is to buy a 4e-fte engine,

and get it put in. The 4e-fte engine i am looking at is completely factory(i think) and does not come with an ECU, clutch, or a gearbox. It also doesnt have the factory top mount intercooler. I have a 4e-fte ECU, will it hook up to the 4e-fe loom?

Will the 4e-fe clutch and gearbox work with the 4e-fte engine? What else will i need? belts? injectors? pumps? I basically need to know EVERYTHING that i could possibly need, or any problems that i could possibly encounter. I want to eventually have a blow off valve, front mount and external waste gate put on. Will the factory headers have anywhere for the wastegate to go or will i need to buy some custom ones? Can the blow off valve bolt on? how hard will it be to get a front mount intercooler set up running? What about an exhaust system? I dont know terribly much about this (obviously) but for the life of me I am determined to get this car going one way or another. Would it be worth upgrading to a better ECU and turbo? and if so, which ones? I know swapping these engines over shouldnt be too hard, but things arent ever as easy as they seem, and there is always hidden problems. out of all the engine swaps possible, this should be one of the easiest possible yea? How much do u think it would cost to get someone to do all the work for me? any help would be greatly appreciated cheers

1500cc Paseo problemhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/213607-1500cc-paseo-problem/ Hi all

I have a 1996 1500cc Paseo and althought the engine starts and runs it is overfueling and ticking over at approx 1200rpm.

As the engine gets warmer the revs still stay at around 1000rpm

Can anyone tell why it would be doing this and by plugging into the diagnostic port would this point me in the right direction to finding a cure for it?

Thanks

Starlet Headlamp lenshttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/211073-starlet-headlamp-lens/ My '99 RHD Startet (P90?) has a hole in the passenger side head lamp. It's about 3mm and a 10-15mm domed piece of glass has broken away behind the hole and is loose inside the head lamp.

Can anyone advise whether just the glass lens in replaceable, and if so what part number I should be looking for? I've so far only found complete assemblies that are £150+.

Turbo Not Workinghttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/168135-turbo-not-working/My turbo has stopped working there is no boost pressure at all but no other symptoms, I don't get any smoke or idling problems etc

The car drives fine and no other problems just no turbo, the green lights don't work either which tell you your boosting.

Has anyone come across this problem before?

I've checked all the pipes and they seem to be ok no oil leaks anywhere.

I was driving on the motorway doing 70+ when turbo stopped working suddenly, there has been no other side effects since it stopped working so basically it's like driving a Glanza S.

If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Ep91 fan on till hothttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/206114-ep91-fan-on-till-hot/ Ive recently done a ep91 4efte swap to my 92 Paseo.

After doing the swap I realized my radiator fan would turn on as soon as I turned the key and will turn off as soon as the engine reaches normal operating temp causing it to overheat.

I pulled the connector on the radiator fan switch on the back of the thermo housing and the fan will run with out turning off when hot. I then ran ground to the connector and it turns the fan off.

I then bought a new rad fan sensor switch as well as a fan relay hoping one or the other would fix the issue but IT DID NOT! Smh

Ive read about jumping an ac connector if youve done an ep82 swap but I have an ep91 swap so do I still need to jump an ac connector and if so which on?

or do I need a different radiator fan switch

any advice is greatly appreciated.

Intake and Vacuum Lines.https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/205832-intake-and-vacuum-lines/ Hi there,

- So I'm installing a FMIC now and I have had to remove the stock air filter and black pipe which usually says EFI on it and feeds to the turbo.

- In the picture below you can see the blue hose that feeds off the 'intake piece' (EFI one which goes to stock air filter location) and feeds into the port into the top left just left to the cam gear cover.

- The black intake piece which has to be removed and then a shorter intake must be fitted to accommodate for the new piping for FMIC.

- So now that the black piece is going in the bin, where does the hose from the top left (next to cam cover) connect to now?

Gearbox / Clutch work in a Paseo (5E-FE) - a few questionshttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/205668-gearbox-clutch-work-in-a-paseo-5e-fe-a-few-questions/ Hi all.
I'm undertaking my first big mecanical job on my Paseo at the moment, and that is changing the clutch. I'm totally new to doing in depth car mechanics such as this, so apologies if my questions seem obvious - I'm just doubting and/or double taking myself in this process

  • Gear linkage cables: they are disconnected from the gearbox, but I have no idea how to physically get them out of these clips on the gearbox. Are they just meant to slide out?

unknown.pngunknown.png

  • Speedometer cable: I'm guessing this is just meant to unscrew? At least that's what I've seen from other people online.

image.thumb.png.7a541b7052e7b543a5110a8699157e39.png

Once these are off all I've really got left is to drain the fluid and drop the gearbox. Anything to look out for during this process?
Thanks

'96 Paseo Si - Coolant Temp Gauge intermittent(?)https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/205252-96-paseo-si-coolant-temp-gauge-intermittent/ Hi everyone,

I'm new to owning my Toyota Paseo, and have noticed that the car / temp gauge isn't heating up properly. The previous owner off-handedly mentioned that "this is just what Toyotas do".. but in a moment of doubt I thought I'd just check whether anyone has actually had the same issue and what I could do to diagnose it.

I've noticed that sometimes, on a hour or two drive, the gauge moves up 1 or 2 bars, but nowhere near the middle I'd expect it to be (at least on previous cars I've owned). Other times the gauge doesn't move at all.

Thanks in advance.

Hard starting, check engine light when cold and hothttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/205066-hard-starting-check-engine-light-when-cold-and-hot/ From the day i bought my starlet i've been having issues cold starting, and been dealing with a check engone light when cold and when warm.
Car has 141k miles and service history is unknown>
Issue presents as a ~200rpm drop in idle revs and when cold it is unwilling to rev.
i have cleaned and replaced the ICV previously to no avail.
New 4e-FE ICVs are unavailable as best i can tell and a 5E ICV does not fit unfortunately
