Hilux Engine Misfire

Hi, the warning symbols on my car for engine power reduced were showing. I sent it in to Toyota, and they have found that the No.2 injector and rail pressure sensor wiring has damaged and snapped, with slight damage to No.1 injector wire. The car has been used for 5 years and has travelled 74,000 miles. Is there a warranty for this?

If it's been serviced by Toyota then they had a policy running that it gave you a warranty every year up to 100k and 10 years old...

If not I though they put a 5 year warranty on Hilux from new anyway...

I would have thought it would be covered, go to the manufacturer and not the dealer would be my advice... Especially on social media....

Provided the car was supplied by Toyota GB, it would have had a 5 year/100,000 mile new car warranty from first registration. So depending when in 2019 it was first registered, the vehicle may still be within the new car warranty.

what caused the damage? As looms are fairly secure, I would suspect rodent damage, if that is the case it may not be covered and a main dealer will quote a complete engine loom and not do a repair

Hi Jian, under the Toyota relax warranty, most major mechanical and electrical components are covered provided the vehicle has been maintained according to Toyota's service schedule at an official dealership. This typically includes components like injectors and sensors.

Covered Components.

Engine Components, Includes parts such as injectors, sensors, and other key engine components.

Fuel System, Includes fuel injectors, fuel pumps, and related components.

Electrical system, Includes sensors, wiring, and electronic control units.

Exclusions, wear and tear parts that fail due to regular wear and tear might not be covered. But as already been mentioned by @flash22 if its been caused by rodent damage then they may reject the claim.

Did they give you a report on what they thought caused this problem,if not ask them for one.Hope this helps.
