Owning lexus for my main car for last 10 years I wouldn't go back to other make. Toyota & Lexus are known for reliability, but I just found something today. Proace is actually a peugeot van with toyota Badge on it. It has been few years proace is out and I believe people can give some feedback on it.  Couple years ago company bought 5 peugeot vans and driving one of them (proace type) didn't impress me at all.. At the time I thought it's just peugeot junk, why would you buy this crap 😄 On top of it, I think every single van went back to the garage first year of use with different problems. Even small details like door seals & door rollers seems to be such a low quality... Seals were hanging on one van- doors not closing properly. Doors in general are strange- you think you close them, you come on site & you hear alarm screaming.. Other van sliding door rollers went faulty in less than 2 years.

I was looking forward of getting toyota made van, but probably need to look for something else?

Proace verso tailgate windowhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/221178-proace-verso-tailgate-window/ Hi, I had my rear windscreen wiper repaired under warranty but in fixing this they broke one of the gas strut brackets that are fixed to the rear opening window. Now I know that my local Toyota garage are now responsible for repairing this but they are telling me that the fitting isn't a separate part and is part of the rear window. I have now been waiting for about four months as the window is on back order. I have tried googling the part or an alternative but have been unsuccessful so far. It seems such a waste to replace the window for the sake of a possible £3 piece of metal.

Does anyone know of an alternative part or where I could possibly get an alternative.

TIA

Ian

Transformer Assembly failurehttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220637-transformer-assembly-failure/ Hi,

We have had Toyota Proace City EV from new for under 2 years. After charging this week it would not start so had to get it taken to Platinum Toyota in Bath (on the back of a truck as all brakes on when electric vehicles fail!). Just been told it has a Transformer Assembly failure. Spare part not in the country and will not be here until middle of May so no vehicle for 4 weeks. We have already had a recall for software update last year.

This seems a major part failure for a new electric vehicle so wanted to hear if anyone else has had same issue and if it is a known fault?

Drive license for the Toyota Proace Medium 1.5https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220220-drive-license-for-the-toyota-proace-medium-15/ Hi,

I just discovered that the vehicle weight could be a problem for my driving license (B)........................................

I wonder if the Toyota Proace Medium 1.5 is one of those that overtakes 3.5 tons, let me explain:

Vehicle Gross Weight: ~2.6 tons (people, fuel + load)

Vehicle Kerb Weight: ~1.6 tons (I guess the Van empty)

We are nowhere close to 3.5 tons, I noticed the Vehicle Train Weight of ~4 tons in the Proace specs, but is this about the weight of pulling a Caravan for example? I don't think it has anything to do with the VGW, or maybe is the max allowed between payload and trailer.

Anyway, the Van has the sticker on the right side that says that the Van could go beyond 3.5 tons (in a few words), so, can I drive it?
I don't need to use any sort of trailer and I'd never exceed 2.6 tons of VGW, well unless I transport gold 😄

Lifespan of the 1.5 2020 ProAce enginehttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220211-lifespan-of-the-15-2020-proace-engine/ Hi,

searching online, I discovered that it's a Peugeot engine after all, and the entire Van is Citroen/Peugeot.

Just to make it short, does it make sense to think that if I do all the maintenance from Toyota (in time) the Van can last more than 230k miles? (my need is up to 230k miles, but could be much less than that based on other factors)

I've seen those old French engines going MUCH beyond that (2000-2016 versions, like the 1.4 TDI), but expensive repairs came in around 180-230k miles, commonly the turbo or diesel pump, what I'm trying to say is that if I replace those expensive components when they are due, is this new engine capable of going far? 😄

Online is very difficult to find data of a Toyota ProAce (unless they all blew up and radio silence is the only proudness left 🤣), I mean everyone, private or businesses sell them before 100k miles, so I can only search for older engines that have been used on French cars (which is not the same thing, right?), because the Toyota ProAce seems unknown to Google...

Or I could find the respective Peugeot but in UK is not a common Van, I would need to search in European forums...

The idea to stay with this Van from 75k miles for other 16-20y MAX is kind of weird to me though, I've never had a vehicle for so long, but I hope I'm not betting wrong... The previous maintenance has been done by Toyota.

Common Issues and Modificationshttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/197714-common-issues-and-modifications/ Good Evening, I am now the proud owner of a 2017 Proace van and looking for a bit of help please. First of all, when I over half lock the steering wheel in either direction when turning there is a whining noise that can only be described as a strangled cat? The volume wheel on the radio is really weird, when turning to increase the volume the volume actually goes up and down. This must be a common issue?

Apologies if these have been answered before, new to the forum and finding my way around. Oh, any ideas for Mods please? Initial small jobs to start with until we get to spring and it's warmer. The van is being used as a works van, I am a spark so any ideas for shelving or racking would be awesome. Thanks guys looking forward to contributing and I'll share my own thoughts, ideas and DIY's when I can,

Dave :-)

Retrofit advanced features in a Proace Van Mediumhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220205-retrofit-advanced-features-in-a-proace-van-medium/ Hi,

is it possible to retrofit the following things without too much effort? (I mean not invasive and that don't require a mortgage)

1. Adaptive Cruise Control

I have it in my current car, and it's so comfortable, I do mostly highway mileage and I really need it, the one I'm looking has cruise control, but if I'm not wrong, it does just acceleration, then it unplugs when there is a car too nearby based on the speed you are, then it resumes if you press the button "res", but it doesn't break. So, it doesn't resume speed and it doesn't break in my understanding.

I'm concerned about the warranty though, I'm afraid that doing it with Toyota won't be a few coins.

2. On the other side, it has emergency breaking, but I'm not sure how this one works, is it part of the cruise control feature or the Van is supposed to stop if it identifies a person or other critical items? (without using cruise control)

3. Rear camera (always ON)

I saw that also Halfords offers the product + mounting, I just hope it doesn't leave a floating cable 🤪

4. Wide mirrors

I don't see a problem with them, but it's probably cheaper with cameras or proximity sensor??

The upgrade on the website is relatively cheap (25 pounds each), but replacing the entire mirror must be another story 🥶, so I'm evaluating alternatives to see better on my sides

5. Carpeting

I would need to replace the entire floor in the back, carpets look cheap and it doesn't suit me anyway, I need metal based floor, but labour is not cheap. I also need to replace the panels on the sides.

Overall, how much I would looking to spend with all these things?

Moreover, is it feasible technically without much effort? (excluding the floor 🙂 )

I just wish to replicate the comfort of my current car 😌

Can I get the Toyota Proace warranty up to 10y country-wide?https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/220178-can-i-get-the-toyota-proace-warranty-up-to-10y-country-wide/ Hi,

I'm from UK and I'm planning to buy a 2020-2021 Proace panel van medium.

As all the Vans, they are always used for work, the ones I'm looking at have 45-65k miles, and I wonder if I can extend the warranty up to 10y.

From the Toyota website, I understood that I can, but I'm in the middle of something, I need to relocate far away in 6-12 months and finding the right Van is an absolute nightmare.

So, I want to take this one, extend the warranty from a local dealer (I can't do it online) and then eventually make claims in the official dealer of the new city.

I won't buy from their approved used scheme, it's a third party dealer and the Van has been serviced by an approved dealer, but not official dealer, it seems possible also in this case to enroll the 10y warranty.

The questions are:

1. Will Toyota recognize the warranty country-wide in their official dealers? (Just in case I need to clam the warranty in some other city, I may move again)

I'm planning to service the Van always in the official dealers, which is also by the warranty requirements, I think it should be fine but please let me know if I didn't spot something.

2. Do you know how much it costs roughly?

3. Do I need to enroll the extra warranty or it's automatically enrolled as long as I service the car from them?

Have a nice day.

Alternator belt problemshttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/219858-alternator-belt-problems/ Hi all. New to this forum. And really struggling to keep my 2018 proace 9 seater on the road. Along with lots of other issues. This one is wrecking my head.

Belt changed as it snapped last year. The one onto alternator. But it's noising again. When I got a mechanic to look at it. He taught it may be the pulley either on the alternator or the air con pump.

But to me it looked so like it was the crankshaft pulley that was or is not running smoothly.

Anyone with similar problems that might give me some help before big money is spent on this thing.

Thank all for reading

Proace Adblue update Oil Contaminationhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/217393-proace-adblue-update-oil-contamination/ I purchased a 2022 2 litre Proace with 3000 miles on it from Toyota in May 2023. I took the van for an adblue recall/update in September. The week after the recall the van went into limp home mode. I managed to get the van to the Toyota dealership. I picked my van up a few days later. They said it was an oil contamination issue. The van had only done a total of 6k at this point. It was agreed it would be serviced with an oil change when I purchased the vehicle. Well almost 2 months to the day the van has gone into limp home mode again. The dealership tells me there is oil contamination and an adblue error. I am waiting for an update about the vehicle. The van has only done 9k.

Interestingly a friend has a Peugeot Boxer with a 2.2 litre engine. He had a recall for and adblue update and is suffering the same oil contamination/quality issues.

Could this be due to a bad adblue update within the PSA group?
