Using a Celica 190 engine as an upgradehttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/202128-using-a-celica-190-engine-as-an-upgrade/ Hi, New to all this. I need some help with the following:

1. What's the difference between the 138bhp and the 190bhp in terms of, how did they get 50bhp more from the same basic engine, or is it the same?

2. Is it a straight swap or is there a whole heap of work to do to get it in/done?

3. Should this be done by a pro or is it a DIY swap?

Sorry if this has been asked before - as I say, I'm new to this.

Best Regards,

Rich

Link ECU MR2Link V2/3https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/205782-link-ecu-mr2link-v23/ Hey TOwners,

I’ve been sitting on a Link ECU (MR2Link V2/3) whilst my turbo is being fitted.  I went to fit it and it’s for a MK2 MR2 wiring loom…. Measure twice buy once.

I’ve got a tuner who said that they can get this fitted (I suppose with some alterations to the MK3 MR2 loom).  But I can’t get my head around if this is possible.

What are your thoughts?  I just feel there are too many pins between the ECU’s to get all the wires fitted.

Ultimately, should I just try and sell this one and get a Link Monsoon and a patch lead?  Or just get an Apexi (only looking for 220-260 whp)

Replacing passenger side broken windowhttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/210241-replacing-passenger-side-broken-window/ Woke up to a shattered passenger side window on my 2002 MR2, is it an easy replacement I have replaced none electric (windup) window before on older car I remember it wasn’t that easy , I can’t find any video on YouTube actually replacing window but seen the door card replaced that looks straight forward enough but as the window is not there anymore I’m hoping it will look self explanatory or is it a real tricky job .

thanks in advance for any advice,

Rob

Bodykit questions.https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/202697-bodykit-questions/  Hey people of the internet!

I got my hand on this nice tracky MR2 but it needs a bit of bodywork.

First I need to figure out what bodykit this is because I'm sure this isn't original , and I don't know much about these cars so if you can let me know that would help.

Secondly, the side air vents as seen on the picture , also seem aftermarket and the left side one got ripped off and I'm wondering where I could find one and how I can mount them.

And lastly , as seen on the last picture It doesn't have the front fog lights and I wondering where I could find them too.

Many thanks.

Alex

Windscreen wiper adapter for old style wiper blades!!https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/195699-windscreen-wiper-adapter-for-old-style-wiper-blades/ Hi all I just recently bought a 1992 MR2 and the Wiper Blades need changing. The main problem I am having is that since it is an older model, it has the older style windscreen wipers. This means that they have the old fashioned screw on blades (I’ll attach some pictures). However I know there are some adapters for them, but they don’t work and are the wrong ones I bought one from euro car parts which seemed to be the wrong hand and do not appear to be genuine Bosch ones as stated online. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what system they are using on there MR2 and how they fit new Wiper Blades as I am having some trouble finding the right adapters so I can fit modern blades on.

There is also another issue that the passenger side windscreen wiper is curved however not even Toyota themselves seem to be making these anymore so if anyone could also tell me what they use would be super helpful.

Usb/aux installation with keeping the oem head unithttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/194147-usbaux-installation-with-keeping-the-oem-head-unit/ Hi guys,

Has anyone done the usb/aux installation with keeping the oem head unit? (Newer one with cd player)

Where did you but the necessary stuff for it? (Im talking about solutions where you replace plugs and add hardware inside the radio not transmitters)

switch on everytime with the radio or it can be operated separately?
and if the installed usb/aux interface can charge as well without causing voltage issues?

thanks

Mr2 Mk3 Workshop Manual(s)https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/51178-mr2-mk3-workshop-manuals/My MR2 MK3 is coming to the end of its 3 year warranty period. So, I thought: "It's time to purchase a workshop manual and keep costs down by doing my own servicing..."

IN SEARCH OF THE HOLY GRAIL

I've already had lengthy correspondence with Haynes's marketing rep., over the prospect of producing car-specific service guides (in a digital downloadable format directly from Haynes website to save publishing/distribution costs). All to no avail.

As a journalist I know it's not cost-effective to produce full-blown paper-based manuals for limited production models. But, who wouldn't pay £5.99 for a comprehensive service manual - I thought - given that an oil/filter change and quick inspection is likely to cost around £160 at a Toyota dealer? Ah well, the search goes on...

Now, frankly I'm puzzled. I've managed to secure a "CD manual" for our 2003 Hond Civic - from a third party via eBay - no problems. But having trawled the world-wide web for days I have - so far - failed to find any reference whatsoever to a "CD workshop manual" for the Toyota MK3 model.

In desperation I also pursued the dealership route. There's better news here... After contacted the dealer - two weeks' ago - I finally got a response today. Chassis manual £78.25 with the engine manual a further £43.48. The parts rep was unable to tell me if that also included the wiring diagrams. Wow now that does make Haynes' manuals look cheap!!!

So is that it? Have I really exploited all avenues? Or is there someone out there with a magic lamp? Probably not. However, I would be pleased to know if the figures I've been quoted by the dealer are about right. I expect they are...but it would be interesting to hear from other DIYers.

Any thoughts/feedback welcome... as I certainly need to get the handbrake adjusted ;-)

Steering Problem - Mr2 Mk3 ((2000 - W Reg)https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/87046-steering-problem-mr2-mk3-2000-w-reg/Hi,

Can anyone advise on the following please!

I bought a MK3 Mr2 6 weeks ago and up until now i have enjoyed owning the car.

I have two problems with it.

The first is that i need to replace the exhaust (front and catalytic converter) and have been quoted £800 for the parts! I have been told i can get these cheaper so i aint too bothered about that because it isn't urgent.

The second more worrying problem is that when i am driving in a straight line, i am getting pulled to the left and to the right. When i accelerate the car pulls to the left, when i let up on the power it pulls to the right and when i brake hard it again pulls sharply to the left. It feels like its wandering, as if i am on an ice rink - not nice!

I had it looked at in a local garage and they swapped the front and rear wheels and re-balanced them. The brakes have all been checked and no faults. They said they couldn't see anything obviously wrong!?

The car had a new steering shaft fitted in july. Suspension seems to be ok too.

Any comments or suggestions greatly appreciated :)

How do I adjust handbrake imbalance? (Toyota MR2 mk3)https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/184316-how-do-i-adjust-handbrake-imbalance-toyota-mr2-mk3/ Hi there! I'm working on my friend's MR2 mk3 (W-reg/2000).

I've tightened up the handbrake cable for her as the car was previously rolling with the handbrake pulled up to the max when on any kind of slope. (Did the full whack - seats out, pump pedal with engine running to take up slack, etc. Was a long session as I also replaced the intermittently-not-working cigarette lighter socket so she could charge her phone on the go...)

It is now much improved, but could be better. Pull it up with all your might and the car holds on a slope, but does give those creaking sounds that indicate that the brakes are barely holding the vehicle's weight.

I think one of the rear brakes is being applied fully while the other one is slightly slacker. The connecting plate that connects the two cables from the calipers to the single cable that runs to the handbrake "handle" is somewhat angled when under tension, so I assume that one brake is under full tension and the other isn't.

Is there any way to adjust the tension of the two cables that run to the left and right rear brake calipers?

Many thanks in advance,

Jezzic

Exhaust Heatshield Rattlehttps://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/79865-exhaust-heatshield-rattle/I need to get part of the exhaust heatshield aluminium welded as the hole and bolt have completely rusted away so I can no longer just replace the missing bolt.

At the moment, at certain revs, the car sounds like a bag of nails, which is not good :( . I've been told by Mr T that to replace the thing is expensive as it would have to be the whole unit, not sure how true that is.

exhaustsystemMR2copy.jpg

What I want to know is, is it good to drive while it's like this or should I get it sorted asap? And what sort of price would I be looking at to replace?

Thanks in advance, Amy  .
