1985 MR2 Help!

Hi there. My 86 year old mother has been driving her 1985 MR2 for the last 39 years and it's still going strong. She's quite a celebrity in our neighbourhood, this white haired old lady in her tiny sports car. The problem is that the seals are gone on the windows and sunroof and water is getting in. The boot seal is still OK. Does anyone have any idea where I could get a set for her? They seem almost impossible to source.

All help gratefully received.

eBay, auto jumble, specialist who makes up bespoke maybe.

What a wonderful story about your mother and her MR2, hope her and the car keep going, and you find some seals to keep her dry in the rain.

Seals will be second hand nowadays as they've stopped making them. There are a few people that break and sell mk1 parts.

Paul Sims: https://www.mr2mk1toyotaspares.com/windscreen

Tony Froude: http://www.tandnmr2mk1carparts.com/our-products/mk1-body-panels/

Or look up Neil Jones on Google, he's got 90+ mk1 cars that he sells off parts from.

Best to email them or call them as none of them list everything on their websites.

I cannot guarantee these are correct but may give you something to go on.

Sunroof weather seal: 63252-17010

Door weather strip: 62381-17010 (RH), 62382-17010 (LH)

Your mum sounds like the coolest, classiest lady around! 🙂
